Carrera Peugeot 908 in 1:43 and 1:32 Scale Photo Review

by Frank

The 1/43rd scale is coming of age and makes a lot of sense for a home racing track. The space requirements are much less compared to the larger 1:32nd and 1:24th scales and the price is very affordable. If you take into account the fact that SCX, Carrera and Artin all make 1/43rd. This begs the question, are these cars as pleasing to the eye and as close to true scale as what you would find in 1/32nd.

The fact that SCX and Carrera have announced that they will be bringing digital to the 1:43rd scale tracks. Will this in itself bring more true to scale cars in 1:43?

I have acquired a Peugeot 908 in 1:43rd and 1:32nd, and am doing a photo review and comparison between the two scales. There a few glaring differences you see straight away, The 1:43rd has no antenna cluster on the top, no visible driver and filled in head lights and I believe the largest flaw is the tire/rim package on the 1:43 a little too large. But let’s hand it to them for expanding their line, and the major differences for the stated above are hard to find.

Still many think of the 1:43rd scale as a toy scale; well aren’t all of slot cars toys? They have come a long way and are progressing by leaps and bounds. If 1:43rd stays at this rate of improvement, I will consider converting over, but what would I do with all the room?
