History Following a season full of memories, including a move to Hendrick Motorsports and his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory, Mears has big plans for 2008. In his second year with team owner Rick Hendrick, Mears drives the No. 5 Kellogg’s/CARQUEST Chevrolet. He joined forces with one of NASCAR’s rising stars, crew chief Alan Gustafson. History Gulf celebrated the 40th anniversary of its first win at Le Mans in the finest possible style, with an incredibly hard fought victory in LMGT1. The 007 Aston Martin of Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Karl Wendlinger and Andrea Piccini finished fourth, only missing out on a GT1 podium place by two laps. The race win went to the sister team Aston Martin Racing DBR9 car, number 009, driven by David Brabham, Darren Turner and Antonio Garcia. The leading GT1 contenders swapped places on pitstops in the opening hours but, by the evening, the blue and orange 009 car had established the slenderest of leads. This it held to the finish, coming home to victory by less than a lap at the end of 24 hours.

History 2008: At Le Mans, three 908s were entered and the team started on pole position as they had in 2007. However during a rain-soaked night at the race the Audi R10 was able to take the lead and go on to win their seventh Le Mans. However the Peugeots finished an impressive second, third, and fifth. Peugeot won the 2007 championship and are leading protagonists in the 2008 season. 
The Scalextric model Modelled on the 2008 livery as raced at Le Mans, the Peugeot 908 endurance racing car is a welcome addition to the range, enhancing the current Scalextric Le Mans offerings which include Porsche, Audi, Aston Martin and Ferrari.
