In the year and a half that I have been running Slot Car Illustrated I have had the pleasure of testing some really interesting and unique stuff. The more recent is the DWI Pit Block and Pit Power system. The equipment arrived safe and sound from DWI, and first impressions are of a quality product. Constructed of sturdy plastic, I got the impression that the DWI equipment could stand up to a lot of abuse. The Pit Block it a test track pad for running and truing the tires on your cars, and the Pit Power is a self contained power supply with a rechargeable battery.
The obvious advantage to having a unit like this is that in the pits, at races or the club, you don't have to rely on having an outlet near by to tune or tweak your cars prior to a race. It's all right here in one nice neat package.

The power supply is a self contained unit, with a toggle switch to choose between maximum power, and variable power.
Included is a 12 volt power pack to charge the batter prior to use. Once charged, it holds it's power for a good long while. The power connects to the Pit Block, or even your layout, with the use of alligator clips.

The beauty of the Pit Block is that it is double sided. One side has raised rails to allow for breaking in gears, or lubricating the chassis as it runs. I found this side of the Block very useful in tracking down those excessive noises that can be so bothersome.
Flip the Pit Block over and you have a flat track section complete with sandpaper affixed for truing tires. I could have used this hundreds of times by now, and will certainly use it many times starting now. I pulled the body off my SCX Hyundai and began truing the tires, something that I have had difficulty doing using my previous methods . For the first time for me I no longer had trouble sanding both the front and the rear tires.

The whole unit is quite useful, and the portability of it makes it one handy tool. If you're serious, or even semi-serious about your racing, you might want to consider looking into getting one of the DWI (Deal With It) Pit Block and Pit Power system. At about $150 dollars, it may seem a bit on the pricey side, but not so much that it isn't worth it. This unit will see a LOT of use, and the ability to tune away from outlet power is a big bonus. It's easy to operate, and well constructed. I would highly recommend one for your pit stall.
Thank you to Ray Swan of DWI Enterprises for letting me check out this fine product. Contact DWI yourself and find out where you can get a set for yourself.
