  • Chipping help- scalextric

    Hi,

I just receive a Scalextric "crash proof" car for my daughter. This car has the "disc braid" system. They use aluminum solid wire to push into the aluminum braid holder. We race digital on the N Digital system. What is the best way of chipping this car?

My thoughts are to remove the wires from the motor, use the push on connectors from the N digital chip to the motor, then re-use the solid wire from the chip to the braid holders. I would connect the solid wires to the stranded copper wires from the N digital chip.

    Any one ever try this?

    Any better ideas.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Dave,
If you plan on making this a permanent digital car, remove all wiring and any noise suppression components (capacitors) from the motor. Just insert the N-digital chip directly between the motor and the cars braids, per the instructions, as you stated. You may have to solder the pickup wires to the braid/holder.
Don't do any soldering on the chip itself.

      Bob,

Thanks for the information. Yes this will be a permanent digital car. I do not plan on soldering to the chip itself.

      Thanks for the help!
