    No huge changes but simplified many sections.

    Introduction to Scaleracing with the Scaleauto cars.


    These races are for the Scaleauto Audi R8, BMW M3 & Z4, Jaguar XKR, Mercedes SLS GT3, Porsche 911 RSR, and Viper GTS-R. These races are open to all versions of these GT2/3 cars. Including the white kits released by Scaleauto. If using a white kit all major parts must be fitted as on the Factory releases. Small parts such as winglets and mirrors may be omitted as long as the car body meets minimum weight.
    These races are not open to the Porsche Cup or Porsche Rally cars released by Scaleauto.
    Other Scaleauto releases will be added once released into the North American market by www.scaleracing.com, no cars will be allowed if they have not been released by www.scaleracing.com.

    The racers may only use Scaleauto parts.
    A “STOCK” example of each legal car will be available at Technical Inspection as reference for the Race Director. In case of any technical questions the samples will be used to define “STOCK”.
    All of the body parts that come with the allowed models as described above must be used. All parts must be fitted on the car and in the correct location. The only exceptions to this are the small parts previously mentioned such as mirrors.


    Scaleracing Philosophy for 1/24th scale Model Car Racing.


    Scaleauto and Scaleracing are determined to create a new philosophy for Model Car Racing in 1/24th scale. A form of racing where the Racer not only desires to perform but also understands it is critical to protect their car from damage. To that end, major body parts must remain fitted to the car at all times during racing. Any repairs MUST BE DONE UNDER “GREEN” CONDITIONS. The track will not be turned off, nor the race stopped to allow a crashed car to be repaired no matter who caused the damage. Drivers must not Marshal cars, and all cars will only be allowed to Pit from a pre determined “Pit area.” All work on cars will be done at the Pit Table in full view of the Race Director; any car worked on in any other area will be disqualified from the race.
    MODIFICATIONS.
    It is not permitted to modify the RTR car or white kit in any way. (Other than crash proofing as discussed in the Body Rules.)
    There are no free parts, all parts must be Scaleauto.
    This includes braid, braid clips & lead wires, axles, bearings, wheel inserts, spur gear, pinion gear. Scaleauto braid may be soldered into the brass connector to prevent falling out during racing. Axle spacers may be trimmed to allow correct wheel spacing. At no time (including float) may wheels or tires be visible outside the body when viewed from above.

    NO Scaleauto tuning parts other than those found on the “STOCK” cars are allowed.
    Early cars can upgrade to ball bearing on the axles. SC-5100 and SC-5118 locking nuts are allowed as well as T Nuts SC-8126A, B, C, D, E, G, H and I to mount the H Plate, and you may tune height on the plate with Scaleauto axle spacers, or similar washers if these are not available.



    BODY & INTERIOR.
    All bodies and interiors must be painted. The minimum weight for the body with the body mounts and fixing screws attached is: 58 grams for all body styles. The actual body may not be modified only the Scaleauto light weight parts may be used on the BMW M3, Jaguar XKR, Audi R8 and Mercedes SLS to lower the weight. No car body may be under 58 grams with mounting brackets fitted and mounting screws in place. Any body under weight will have the weight increased to the 58 gram minimum. This will be achieved by placing lead weight inside the body between the body mount posts midway between the posts. Weight has to be placed on the inside of the door and not on the mounting bracket or supports.

    Fantasy liveries in the spirit of 1:1 motor sport are acceptable and encouraged.
    Three numbers must appear on the car similar to 1:1 motor sport requirements.
    The stock rear wing uprights may be reinforced with rubber glue like Shoe Goo. Also a small piece of foam rubber can be glued to the side of the rear wing uprights to help strengthen this connection.
    It is permissible to use the Carbon/Rubber wings released by Scaleauto for all Events.
    Caution, at no time can a car run on track without the rear wing fitted in the correct position. Any car not Pitting under “GREEN” to immediately fix a lost or misplaced rear wing will not be scored while run without the wing. If the car continues to run after one warning, lap counting will stop until the wing is fixed.
    The wing must be refitted in the correct position on the car.
    (No modifications of the body, other than the use of Shoe Goo (or similar products) to prevent crash damage, are permitted.)
    You can also use Shoe Goo to strengthen the front and rear of the car. Also the side mounts where the body attaches to the chassis. You may also use Shoe Goo to strengthen the fit and mount of the interior. But you may not use Shoe Goo, or any other product to weight tune the body. Any questions on this will be addressed in technical inspection.

    CHASSIS.
    It is legal to straighten the chassis and other metal parts. You can also clean up flashing or burrs on parts but cannot file to change the height or shape of parts. Countersinking holes lightly is allowed, re-drilling or resizing holes is not.
    You may set up the chassis to your preferred length as long as no body modification is needed to make your set up work.


    The chassis and chassis to body mounts must be assembled in exactly the same way as the “STOCK” technical samples. All body mount screws must be tight, mounting plates may not float. Axle mounts may only be fitted in the stock position. Guide lead length and position of the body on the chassis mounts may be adjusted. You may also adjust the wheel base as long as the body is not altered in any way. The wheels must appear to be reasonably central in the wheel arches.
    The chassis must be assembled with all the screws and/or nuts and bolts using the original mounting holes. You may use a thread locking material to prevent screws falling out, but all screws must be tight and fitted as designed.
    The original MSC or Scaleauto logo on the bottom face of the main chassis plate must be clearly visible and the finish of the main plate and all parts must be as supplied from the Manufacturer.
    The original chassis plates, parts and metal body holders cannot be repainted or refinished in any way.
    Note:
    Stripped screw holes may be repaired with stud or loc-tite type products. One area where we have seen damage is motor mounts, it is permissible to countersink the underside of the chassis and mount a screw up to repair/replace the stock screw down into the chassis for motor mounts. We then advise using Scaleauto lock nuts on these mounts from above.
    Any other repair should be shown to the Race Director and approved or fixed by repairing or replacing parts.
    The guide mounting plate must be fitted under the chassis, some cars are supplied from the factory with this plate above this must be change to the underside.
    The length of Scaleauto guide blade cannot exceed 29.00 mm. There are 2 different guide nuts either is legal, non Scaleauto guide nuts are not legal. All Scaleauto guides are legal, no modification other than trimming for slot depth.
    This includes the profile of the guide, this cannot be altered. You may tape down lead wires, but must use Scaleauto appearing wire, guides, nuts etc. Guide shims are allowed.Only one guide blade may be used to locate the car in the slot. No other part of the car may protrude into the Slot at any time. The guide depth may be trimmed if required to prevent hitting the bottom of the slot. Only the minimum needed to prevent this will be allowed. (This measurement can vary from Track to Track and will be decided at the Events)

    No part of the chassis may be visible when viewing the car from above.

    This includes after a crash, if any part of the car is lost to allow the chassis to be visible it must be repaired immediately under “GREEN” track conditions at the Technical table. (no work will be done when track power is off for lane changes or any other reason)


    AXLES, BEARINGS & WHEELS.
    Scaleauto “STOCK” steel 3 mm diameter axle’s front and rear only. No independent front axle set up, however created are allowed.
    You may flat spot the rear axle to help prevent the gear and/or rear wheels slipping on the axle.
    Stock unmodified Scaleauto bearings as supplied with the approved cars only. All cars may be upgraded to ball bearings on front and rear axle.
    Front wheels and tires must be either “STOCK” Scaleauto as supplied on the approved cars or you may use SC-2715 Scaleauto sponge front wheel/tires. The minimum outside diameter of the tire at the beginning of the race shall be at least 26.00 mm and minimum width of 10.00 mm on the rubber tires and 8mm on the sponge tires.
    Each front tire must make full contact with the tech block with the guide out of play. Rubber front tires may be hardened and polished and may be glued to the rim.
    At no time may the minimum ground clearance be less than 1mm

    Only Scaleauto 27.5mm x 13mm rear wheels are allowed. Compound may be spec’d per Event.
    Rear tires may not under any circumstances be treated with any kind of tire dressing, compound or product. They must also appear to be stock in shape and profile and the approved compound markings must be as supplied at the factory at the start of the race.
    They may be cleaned with Scaleauto tire cleaner SC-5300 at the Technical Table only.
    Removing dirt, dust and loose rubber particles from the tires may only be performed with a tape roll provided by the Race Director, or by using the Scaleauto SC-5300 Tire cleaner.

    All four wheels must be fitted with the Scaleauto wheel inserts complete with disc brake detail. This includes the SC-2715 wheels if used. It is possible to fit inserts including brake detail by modifying the backside of the insert.
    The wheels and tires must not protrude outside of the body when viewed from above.
    No car can have a front wheel and axle width wider than 80 mm or rear wheel and axle width wider than 82mm, measured at the widest point of the front and rear axles. No matter what the widths of the axles are wheels and tires must remain inside the bodywork at all times, including chassis/body float.
    MOTOR, GEAR AND PINION.
    Scaleauto SC-0025b and SC-0026 are the only legal motors.
    Motors will be dyno’d before the Event. Tech will announce the accepted tolerance, any car outside this spec will be issued with a new motor at the tech table, no break in will be allowed.
    Soldering may only be used to attach the lead wires to the motor terminals.
    No heat sinks or any other attachment may be used.
    Only the stock Scaleauto pinions and Spur gears are allowed 12:44 ratio. They may not be modified in any way from “STOCK”. **
    Motors can be spec’d by Event organizers, Scaleauto motors only are allowed. At National Finals hand out motors may be used. Another way to spec the cars is to Dyno cars prior to the race; this is decided by Event organizers and should be announced before the Event.
    The goal is to create equal performing cars, motor and gear ratio wise to prevent costs rising due to motor wars.

    CAR WEIGHT, DIMENSIONS & CLEARANCE.
    The minimum weight for a complete Scaleauto car: 207gm New chassis, 195gm Old Chassis.
    The minimum weight for the complete chassis with sponge tires fitted will be no less than 141 grams.
    The ground clearance will be measured under the entire RTR car with all four wheels sitting flat on the tech block.
    The ground clearance at the beginning of the race cannot be less than 2.00 mm at the rear and 1.80mm at the front of the car. The car cannot be held up at the front by the braid when checking this measurement.
    The ground clearance during and at the end of the race must never be less than 1.mm.

    PIT TABLE

    Once technical inspection is complete and all cars are in “Parke Ferme” this will become the PIT TABLE.
    Racers are allowed to bring to the table tools they may need during the Event.
    The Raceway will supply power to the table for Soldering Irons and other power tools and there will be a Tire Cleaning Roller supplied. All lubricants must be at the Pit Table and in clear view of the Race Director.
    At no time after Technical Inspection will any of the Entered Cars be allowed to leave the Track or Technical / Pit area, this is cause for immediate disqualification from the race.

    All work on cars including adjusting Braid or oiling car will be done only under “GREEN” and only at the PIT TABLE.

    Racers will stop at the Pit Box on the track and a Corner Worker will bring the car to the PIT TABLE. After work the Corner Worker will replace the car on the track.

    At all times it is the responsibility of each TEAM to supply a Corner Worker, if any TEAM is found to not be supplying a Corner Worker they will be penalized as follows:
    First offence is a warning.
    Second offence docked 5 laps.
    After that they will lose 25 laps per offence.

    The SPIRIT of these Rules are to run a fair and competitive Event where all feel they have a chance to succeed. This is a test of the RACER’s more than the car, and while Set Up is important race craft and tactics are a big part of these Events.
    These Events are also to show the value of the Scaleauto Brand, anyone found using non Scaleauto approved parts before the Event will be required to fit the correct parts.
    Upon post-race Technical Inspection any car found with non “STOCK “parts will be excluded from the results.

    Regional and National Sprint and Endurance races will be run under these rules. For lighting kits only the DS-0125 is legal, you can add extra marking lights to ID your car.

    If it is not mentioned in these rules. It is not allowed.



    ** 2016 Rules will be updated to allow open gear ratio and certain tuning parts.

    I'm confused. I have 6 cars purchased from 1/32 slotcar that have the 0025 motor in them. 1 I purchased in the last 60 days. Why is this car now illegal?

      Answer for Crusher.

      OK I checked the records at www.132slotcar.us and the last purchase I can document was SC-7020 a Mercedes white kit.
      In Feb of 2014!
      However if you still have this motor in new condition I will gladly replace it for you.
      I did look at your purchases prior to that and have to go may a long way to find 6 cars.
      Also as you are buying as a Dealer these purchases really are not the same as a Consumer.
      All of that said for anyone with a recently purchased car fitted with a non compliant motor I will gladly send you a replacement motor all I ask is for the Retail receipt when purchased, from any Authorized Scaleracing LLC Dealer and I will exchange the motor.

      As we carry deep stock to support this Industry and the racing created we certainly do still have stock of some cars that by the latest National Rules would not have a legal motor.

      My other choice would be only stock minimal stock and sell out quickly, I choose to support Scaleauto and all lines I carry in depth, which means you can still buy cars from www.132slotcar.us and www.scaleracing.com if you are an Authorized dealer that were sold out by the Manufacturers long ago.

      Anyone who recently purchased a car from any Scaleracing Dealer can exchange a new motor with a sales receipt for the latest legal motor. No charge except for postage costs.
