Better than PayPal, OSR, Alan is set up to accept the credit card himself. Either order online from www.132slotcar.us or call Fred (the MAIN man himself!!) at the store on 888-774-3227 and he'll fix you right up!!

            Re: Proto-Slot-Kit

            Great News Russell,

I thought I should post a quick note here on the DVD sales.

We are currently sold out, but more are coming. Thank you to all that have ordered, we will receive more copies by the end of this week to fill all the existing back orders.

Again thanks, I will find out more info this weekend about other items we can offer from the "Racing is Life" Collection and other Motorsports DVD and Photo CD's as well as posters.

Hopefully I will see some of you at Daytona this weekend.

Remember to bring your Vintage Porsche cars of any scale, to race on our "Sport" track.

            Cheers

Re: A French Kiss With Death

Related: For anyone who hasn't yet seen the post over on SlotForum, Fly are adding to their Steve McQueen Collection, with the SM4 Milt Minter, Chad McQueen and Gunnar Jeannette Toad Hall Porsche 911 GT1, as raced at Daytona last year.

The Gunnar Racing Porsche livery was done to promote the book "A French Kiss with Death - Making of LeMans" by Michael Keyser, who is also the author of The Speed Merchants.

Subtitled "Steve McQueen and the Making of Le Mans: the Man, the Race, the Cars, the Movie", Keyser goes into depth about the life of Steve McQueen, the films in which he appeared and his love for the many cars and motorcycles that he owned.

              Kind regards

                I GOT MINE TOO!!!

Really was jazzed to see so many cars that I have in 1/32 roaring around in real life (sort of). The footage of the Targa Florio & the Matra's @ Le Mans are worth the price of admission all by themselves.:hat

Speed Merchant CD from a REAL Speed Merchant

I purchsed the DVD from vicelford.com and received a signed copy from the man himself.

He even signed it again at the Chaparral Museum opening in Midland.

If you are going to buy a DVD about racing, why not get one from someone who was actually there.

Vic is a great guy, and by all means buy everything you want from him.
However the profit from the sales made here is helping to keep this site online.

                    So....................

                    Shop where you must.

                            Grand Prix

Hi , forget about that movie , James Garner as a Formula One Driver is a No-Go.
Instead watch RomanPolanskis 70 Docu of Jackie Stewart
                            racing 1970 in Monaco.

                              Re: Grand Prix

"Grand Prix" is still not available on DVD. Nope! And; that sucks!! ("The making of Grand Prix" is, however)

And; as far as James Garner not being a good actor for the roll; I disagree. Remember; this is the early sixties. I feel, he fits the mold pretty well. But; that's just my opinion.

I think it has something to do with the viewers age, too. I'm 50. I saw "GP" the first time when it was released in 1967 on the huge Cinerama screen presented in a way it will never be again. Totally incredible experience!

The technology John Frankenheimer used is still unsurpassed in making a racing movie. 'Matter of fact; the camera mounts used in "Grand Prix" were not used again until Frankenheimer directed "Ronin".

Make no mistake; I think "Le Mans" is a fine film with great racing footage. But; "Grand Prix" has a great story, a wonderful overture, and breathtaking racing.

"Grand Prix" isn't a documentary (like many are making comparisons with), but a full fledged movie about Formula 1 racing in the early sixties.
