  • Adding Headlights to Carrera Ferrari ?

    Hi Folks,

    I just got the Carrera Ferrari and want to add headlights. I just was thinking along the lines of an incandescent bulb (or LED) barely poking through a hole in the silver metallic painted area where the headlight lens would be:

    Any ideas?

    Thanks! Take care, Joe.

    Hi Joe,
    letting a 1.8mm poke through a hole is the easy solution, but doesn´t look too nice. But it works.

    if you want to do it really nice i got the following tip:
    - put the nose of the car in modelling clay or plasticine to make a negative
    - file out the headlight in their correct shape
    - put the modelling clay back on
    - fill in clear resin and let dry
    - put LED behind the new clear cover headlight

      Analog or digital?

      Note: with a D132 chip, I drill some holes and use a 3 mm LED (0,05A) with a 600 Ohms resistor;

      Like pfuetze said, this is not the best looking job, but for playing with kids, that's ok;

      Have a nice day.

        Hi Pete,

        Thanks for the idea and tips. I have the Alumilite 2 part silicone putty (need to get the clear resin). I had thought about some curved plastic cut from blister packaging as a lens, but a mold would be better for a perfect match.

        Thanks!
        Take care, Joe

          Hi PL,

          Thanks for the info and ratings of the components! It is analog. I was thinking (perhaps) about a series of pin holes all over that lens area with an ultra bright LED behind it, but need to test how it would look.
          Thanks!
          Take care, Joe.
