  • Carrera Nurnberg 2007 ~ SCI Exclusive!!!

Carrera was at the Nurnberg Toy Fair in full force. While many were told to NOT take pictures and were escorted away when they did. After a few discussions, our Alan Smith was allowed to take pictures at will. Below is some of what Alan captured. Many more can be found in the Carrera Gallery here. There is really too much for me to show you here. So, please take a look through the gallery.

Please remember that these are Slot Car Illustrated exclusive images. These images are not to be reused under any circumstances.

Not even Captain Carrera. He spent enough time there, he should have his own pics.

Was hoping to see the Peugeot HDi FAP. The Porsche and Audi look good. The Audi seems to be a hot ticket this year.

Now then, if they would get their act together...
lighten up the cars, soften the tires, make a beefier motor that didnt slow down when it gets warm, and that can be competitive without the magnets against Scaley, NINCO and SCX cars without mags...

Not too sure what I think of that bad guy, bentley on steroids looking thing.

              Nice pics tho.

              Give me 1/32 HOTRODS!!!!!

It's a great looking line-up, especially the hot rods and the BMW coupes.

But weirdly enough, what really impresses me is the Super Mario stuff. Why? Because we all sit around wondering 'How do we get kids away from video games and into slot cars'. So Carrera makes slot cars with video game characters, and that can only help kids make a transition from video games to slot cars. It may not get kids running to slot cars in droves, but it's a subtle push back in that direction. Seems like good marketing to me.

Looks like a good year for LMP racers.

What about the apparently phantom "new" track connectors????

                      Mc

P.S. The cars are nice, particularly the LMPs.

                        RE: Carrera

Has anybody had a chance to put a ruler to the Hot Rods Yet! They look like they were modeled on the same scale as the Vanquish or Racer cars which is to say TOO BIG! I hope not as I have been waiting for them for over a year now. I buy allot of Carrera cars and I want all the 1/32 hot rods, but if they are not right scale wise I might not buy any!

I measured the width of the fat-fender rod, and it scales to approximately 1/23. Now, that may seem close to 1/24, but it is about 5% oversize. And if you, like me, run 1/24 cars along with 1/25 plastic kits mounted on slot car chassis, the difference is even bigger.

Funny thing is, I don't have any 1/24 cars which run as slow as these Carrera jobs. Re-motoring them is the only way they can begin to compete, unless you are content to run them only against each other. I tach'd one of the Carrera motors at 9.5k/12v. That is one slow motor.

                            RE: Hot Rodz

Robert, Sorry I should have been more clear. I was refering to the 1/32 hot rods not the 1/24. The 1/24's have been out for a while so I kinda already know about them. I don't do 1/24 only 1/32 & in the pictures of the 1/32 Hots rods that I have seen the look BIG. As I have not had one with-in reach I was hoping one of our agents could sneak behind enemy lines so to speak & get some measurements!

Will they fit in the Scalex vintage F1's?
