  • Lap counting with video camera

When I don't want to use software for lap timing I use a one inch (cube shape) video camera. I made a stand from an erector set that straddles a Carrera lap counter (30355) with the wireless camera mounted to it facing down over the lap counter. The camera sends a signal to a receiver that is connected to a 43 inch TV. The camera and receiver are 2.4GHz which is the same as Carrera wireless controllers. The cameras come in different frequencies, some interfere with controllers some don't. I also use an extension cable on the lap counter to give more space for positioning the stand. This works great when racing alone just for time. I can see the TV much easier than the lap counter for previous lap times. I also use the same type of camera on the hood of a 1/24 car (more stable than 1/32) to video the track.
Hopefully someone might find this useful. Optbob
