  • Calling all Arduino Experts

    Good morning all.

I would like to know from all the people who are using the Arduino for their lap timing needs is it able to support say an 8 lane track ( timing and individual relays)? Would it be able to support 10 lanes with just a master relay?

    Regards

    John

John: You would need to use an Ardunio Mega for 8 lanes with relays to get enough pins.
As far as I know RC usually only supports 8 lanes with the normal sketch

        Arduino Config

The Arduino R3 or newer Arduino CH board has ::
Digital pins that can be used for lap sensors even call and relays etc
        Pins 2345678910111213
        Analog uses:
        Pins A0 A1 A2 A3 A4 A5

MORE THAN ENOUGH TO SUPPORT 8 LANES a master call button and master power relay with room for other custom stuff

IT IS CORRECT RC SUPPORTS 8 LANES
        BUT
RC CAN ALSO HANDLE 2 ARDUINOS
        or
A MEGA BOARD WHICH IS EASIER TO CONFIGURE THAN 2 R3 OR 2 CH BOARDS

RC's 8 lane limitation is actually just a configuration issue. If you want to do a 10+ lane track I'm happy to work with you to get it working. Shoot me an email...

With that many lanes and per lane relays you very likely will want to use a Mega board. With 10 lanes you'll run out of pins on the Uno pretty fast.
