Hey Guys, here's some more news from Belgium.
Reminding my earlier thread about paper interiors: "1/24 scale paper interiors"

Well here're the results: 3 1/24 scale hard bodied Group 5 slotcars.

Below the photos (they're also in my Gallery) Some details will follow ...

Nice work! Those are some tough looking slot cars.
The paper interior thread was very helpful. Thanks for the info!

Ok, here are some details, to show you it Is "scratchbuilding".

        Bodies:
        Tamiya
were "sleeping" for some years already in my workshop's "stock".

        Interior:
I've used the rear part of the Original one, including the rollbar, in combination with a flat part of plastic, on wich I've glued, with double sided tape, a paper interior. On top of it I've glued the upper part of the driver with the steering wheel.

        Chassis:
        MJK, sidewinder (Patto's Place, Australia)
Likewise the bodies, they too were "sleeping" for some years already in my workshop's "stock".

        Motor:
        H&R (Professor Motor)

        Pinion, gear (48p) & axles (1/8"):
        Patto's Place

        Hubs & tires:
        BRM group C
! Originally they are for 3 mm axles, but I've reamed them by hand (very carefully) to 1/8" with a reamer.
The front hubs have been reduced in diameter as well as in width on a lathe, to fit (glued) some flat rubber coming from some low profile wheels from Patto's Place.

And if some-one wants to know: the Epson tent is a 1/24 scale paper model.
Maybe it's still available to print at the Japanese Epson website ...

I've also planned a 1/24 scale Nürburgring Dunlop Tower.
After rescaling it from 1/32 to 1/24, it's already printed.
Because of it's bigger scale, it will be necessary, and planned, to inforce it with architect's foamboard.
          But that's for wintertimes ...

            Okay; SCI-ers,

Here some more about my group 5-ers.

2 photos of the inside of the BMW.
The Toyota and Capri have the same setup.

And, as I allready mentionned, below photos of the 1/24 scale buildings.

Hufo, lots of nice stuff there! We're slowly building interest in 1/24 here in Colorado. The next step is to get them to broaden their horizons from Carrera onto ScaleAuto, Plafit, Scholer and the like. Oh, and to remotor their Carreras to run on 12V. Keep us informed.

                  Nice collection there.

Delving into the larger scale more since starting to scratch build.

Here's my Tamiya Lancia Stratos Turbo Gr. 5 body on top of a shortened BRM Porsche 956 chassis.

Lot more model kit bodies in the larger scale available for scratch building.

I've been looking into your Gallery, and 've seen photos from some nice tracks with some nice scenery (scale 1/32) you're racing on.
If you're planning to race 1/24, keep in mind the cars will be bigger ...

                        Nice job, Dan.

Any photo of the inside of the car?
I'm curious about the chassis, as well as about the body-mounting ...
