  • Round 20 of 26 – Donington Park – 21/22/24 August 2015 – DHORC 500

DHORC's 500th Club Night 12PM - Saturday - 22Aug15 - 10-Lane Donington Park track in the Paddock Suite at Donington Park - Free Entry - Free BBQ

Thank you to the 70 racers (a club record) who celebrated DHORC’s 500th Club Night at Donington Park on Saturday 22Aug15 - 12 others raced on the track the previous day taking the total to 82!

What an amazing day Saturday was with a fantastic group of HO racers from up and down the country. Thank you especially to the 7 Worthing HO Racing club Members who set off from the South coast at 0330 hours to be with us. They were not the only long distance racers however with many others from South of London as well as the South West of the country. Thank you again for your support.

Congratulations to our seven winners, Tony Baldock (Adults), Doug Passell (Masters), Dean Garbett (Adult Non-Members), Adam Hall (Juniors), Zach Roythorne (Cadets), Steffi Roythorne (Junior Non-Members) and finally Tony again for winning the last race of the day between all of our winners (except Adam) to take home the prodigious Alan Bullock Trophy.

Here are some of the photos from the day, many more to come and hopefully one of Andy Player's superb videos!

Photo1 – we were never short of marshals!

Photo2 – Phil Rees’ fantastic DHORC 500 cake, the Alan Bullock Trophy and some of Phil’s superb lexan bodies that were soon snapped up

Photo3 – Thank you to Gary Skipp for his new DHORC clothes line. With so many orders taken we should see many in DHORC “uniform” over the next few Club Night’s

Photo4 – With 10-Lanes of racing and so many racers we surpassed over 1 million feet of racing at a single DHORC Club Night for the very first time, with well over 800 three minute races surpassed, another record.

Photo5 – The whole event took just 7 hours to run starting from 1200 hours. Here one of the five groups of Adults are Qualifying. We actually had 30 plus racers on the track by 0930 hours getting plenty of practice. It was a long and fun day for many.

Photo6 – With so many cars to manage in Parc Ferme we had to put them into specific Groups

Photo7 – Our youngest winners, Zach (Cadets), Adam (Juniors)and Steffi (Junior Non-Members)

Photo8 – John Lamb ensured folks cars were kept in tip top condition

Photo9 – F1 Cars being readied for the Adult Finals

Photo10 – One of the five F1 Adult grids

Photo11 – A big screen kept everyone up to date on their progress

Photo12- All of our winners except Adam, with Doug, Tony and Dean on the back row, Zach and Steffi at the front. (Photo - Andy Davies)

Far more to come, watch this space. Thanks again to so many for so much support today, it was a humbling experience
