      • Monday No-Mag, 6/11/2018

Six racers on hand for the night's festivities, joined by Race Director Tom and Spectator/Marshal Brian. Most of practice was conducted at 12 volts, causing some incorrect conclusions to be drawn regarding setups and controller adjustments. Here's betting that this will be monitored more closely in future.

All the competitors noted that the much-maligned Red lane was rather quick on the evening, and several individuals' fast laps were turned thereon. But I digress.

The results of the evenings activities were:

          • I believe that some thought should be given to the soon-to-be-released MRSlotcar metal chassis for the Slot.it Group C cars. As I read the current rules, such an item would not be legal (neither a stock nor a 3D printed chassis). I'm not advocating for or against its use... just a clarification in advance either way.

                • From the Monday night rules in post #2

"4. ....The ScaleAuto Toyota GT1 is NOT allowed; competes in the modern LMP class."

But the Mosler is legal. ?? Somebody please explain this to me as I fail to see the rationale.

                  • Toyota GT1

                    I believe the thought process was that the Toyota GT1 would dominate the GT1 class if allowed;
even more than the Mosler ended up doing.
Also, that the Toyota was more LMP than GT(1).

Interesting. Sort of a Thunderslot Lola situation. I see.

Historically speaking, the Toyota GT-One raced at LeMans in 1998 as a GT-1 and finished second to the Porsche 911 GT-1. Rules changes forced it into LMP the following year.

Thanks for the explanation... but given that the Mosler is legal for GT1, and dominating, why is the Toyota still barred? Is it assumed to be superior to the Mosler?

Yes. It was assumed to be superior to the Mosler. In testing, back in the day, it was superior to the Mosler, and all other GT1's of that time.

                          • Tom

We have changed most everything else on most all the classes this past year. I think it is about time to relook at the Toyota and Mosters in the GT classes.
Back in the day as you say. I tested all of the NSR-GT cars (Audi, Vette, Porsche). And the Mosler and Toyota GT1 trying to get them allowed into the GTA and GT2 classes. And showed that none of those cars were faster than any of the Slot-it GT cars we were running at the time. I never won a race with either the Mosler or Toyota cars.
But Dan would only allow the standard NSR GT cars into the classes. Why? I think for the same reason the banded all NSR Can-Am cars form the Can-Am series the next day after a P-68 won its first race. He didn't want anything beating the Slot-It cars back then.
Lets retest how the Mosler and Toyota do with the advances we have made in the GTA and 2 classes..

                              Thanks, again.

I guess I'll have to try one (the Toyota, I mean).

Do you have a Toyota? If so set it up for the GTA class rules and I will have one set up for the Mosler
for the next time we run the GT class. And do some testing to see how the two compare with the legal GTA class cars
