    • Instructions for being "Button" Person

Due to some recent incidents involving some "Button" people not being familiar on the correct ways to operate the position, it was decided to write out the proper steps needed.

      1) The main responsibility for the "Button" person is to operate the "Red" Button for "Track Calls"
If you press the red button too long, the restart of the heat will start its "4 lights" count down to restart the heat. Because of this the button Person should only press the button with a quick on and off of the button just like regular typing on a computer keyboard to prevent repeating of the letter's typed.

      2) Second responsibility is to record the finishing section of the racer's who had finished all 4 of their heats coming off of Yellow, or of all 4 of the racers on track at the finish of the race by calling out to the racers one at a time.

      3) To start a race or a heat early the "Button" person shall press the space bar on the track computer.

      4) The "Button" person shall keep track of the countdown clock that is on the screen in between heats and should for this reason re-frame from taking part in personal conversations of any length, and should give verbal warnings of time remaining at around 30 seconds left. When the countdown approaches 10-15 seconds left and the racers and marshals are still not in positions, the "Button" person shall use the computer mouse to click on the "Pause" button on the count-down clock on the screen. When everyone is finally in position you then use the mouse to click on the resume button and then the skip button to start the count-down lights.

      5) If the Heat starts by accident, there is a way to start the heat over "Cleanly" by using the mouse to click on the "Abort" button. Once pressed it will ask you if you want to restart either the "heat" or the "race" obviously you click on the "heat" choice and the computer will bring up the start of the heat over again without the countdown clock, in which case you would use the space bar to start the heat.

      6) If you are new or are unfamiliar with operating the button correctly please ask one of the experienced racers or the person in charge of the store to show you how to operate the position correctly.

            • Pete:

Thanks for posting the race results.

Does anyone know how to edit a previous post? I'm trying to edit the Class Records post on page #80 (post was done by me).
What am I missing, on how to do this?
              Thanks.

              • Tom,

I don't have any ideas. Just edited a post I made last April with no problem.

                More gremlins at work?

                Pete

                • Does anyone else feel like a little bit of a change? Nothing major... just something to add a little variety. I'd like to propose running a race in the opposite direction. We did this occasionally back in the day and it was always a lot of laughs. I think the F1 cars would be great for this.

                  • Gee , how about bringing back the monthly Saturday Enduro ? Or any organized racing on a Saturday . I had an idea a while back for a " Run what ya brung " race _ basicly a car that doesn't fit in any class that we currently run , but you want to race it to see what it'll do .

NEWS FLASH: "SABarnes" and "MacMoose" Win Inaugural Friday Night Team Race

But first... there were 7 entries in the opening event of the evening which was the traditional TransAm.
                            1. F.Ron, 74.30
                            2. Joe, 72.75
                            3. Pete, 72.70
                            4. Kevin, 71.75
                            5. Steve, 68.40
                            6. Art, 64.55
                            7. Max, 64.45
                            Fast Laps
                            Y: 9.166, F.Ron
                            W: 9.274, F.Ron
                            B: 9.349, F.Ron
                            R: 9.442, F.Ron

Inaugural running of the Ace Hobby JoeFab Team Challenge.
The tension in the room was negligible but the decibel level of discussion was unusually high as Race Promoter Joe attempted to explain the procedure to be employed. Following numerous questions, answers, and explanations of procedure it was thought best to just get on with it and let matters take their course. To that end, BVacc prepared tickets each bearing the name of one of the drivers. The tickets were placed in a plain brown bag specially selected for the purpose and Race Promoter Joe drew the teams, and what a group they were!

Proprietor F.Ron was drawn with Max (The Silver Hammer), Race Promoter Joe drew Marsh (The Clown) as a teammate, BVacc was teamed with Art (aka "Aht"). The fourth team drawn was TVacc and Kevin(143). "New Guy" John and "Wily Veteran" Brian formed Team #5, with Steve (SABarnes) and Pete (MacMoose) completing the roster of combatants.

With the lineups set and the starting cars and drivers in position, Race Commentator T. Roy Dogg stepped to the podium, beverage in hand, to conduct the opening ceremonies. Following the marching band and the aerobatic team, T.Roy introduced the starting drivers to the assembled throngs and the green light went on.

Throughout the grueling minutes, T.Roy kept us all abreast of the latest developments, adding wit and color to the proceedings, thanks in no small part to the not-so-mini bar in the sales area and the presence of Race Promoter Joe as Barkeep.

Special mention must be made of T.Roy's alertness and prompt application of "the button." His diligence was credited with the saving of life and property. In recognition, he was accorded applause and approval several times during the evening and many in attendance left the premises better informed on topics relating to marital harmony.

What kind of a race was it? A race among races... filled with the sort of events that alter and illuminate our times. Come race with us at Ace Hobby next Friday and participate in another historic event. All things will be as they were on April 5 except YOU WILL BE THERE!

Note: I can't say enough about how well this race turned out. Kudos to Joe for the idea and the execution, I had a great time and anyone who didn't needs better pharmaceuticals, if you catch my drift.

RACERS! Give yourselves a big hand for trying a new idea with enthusiasm.

                            Final Standings
                            1. Steve "SABarnes"/Pete "MacMoose", 75.65, 9.286/b

Race #3: GT in which TVacc goes pretty much wire-to-wire, Joe tries many cars, and Bvacc does the same.

                            5. BVacc, 69.70, 9.261/w (fun run)
                            6. Max, 67.85, 9.867/b
                            7. Joe, 67.00, 9.244/w (fun run)

Thanks to Proprietor F.Ron for the track, the time, and his usual good humor.
Applause to Troydog for race direction, commentating, and esprit de goofy.
