      • Al,

Thanks for putting my name in showing the fastest lap for one of the GT-1 heats.

However, I have to let everyone know it was a mistake.

I know, I know, no one was thinking it might be an error, everyone believed Max could have the fastest lap in any heat.

But, this week was not that week.

It does make my heart skip a beat seeing my name listed with yours Al, but we all know your name should be the one shown for the Red Lane Fastest Lap.

My name will eventually be the one shown for all of the Fastest Lap Speeds for all heats someday.

That is, someday when I am the only one who shows up to race and Ron has a broken trigger finger.

I do have one other thank you and that is to Troy.

        Thanks Al.

        Max

Another Friday Night of great racing on Niagara Street, Niagara Falls, New York.
I mean legal racing, not street racing, even though I'm sure that is only a movie thing.

The pizza and wings were great as always, but the cheese stuffed sausage and crackers were very good too.

Thanks to Gill and Steve for teching the cars.
Thanks to Ron for the track and the time to race.
Thanks to Ron for the overtime to race - it was 9:30 pm when we finished.

Thanks to Gill, Russ, Troydog and yes all the racers tonight. They all were the reason we left so late with only 11 racers. Tears, yes tears, were brought to all our eyes. Laughter, yes, laughter was the cause. And tears, yes tears, brought to our eyes by something else in the air. Several believe they have narrowed down the cause. The detectives ,in the group, I believe are ready to state their conclusion - but wait - will they, should they, do they really want to, will the culprit return to continue the harassment. There is only one way to find out. Come back next week for the next chapter and see how this saga works it's way out - Chapter 43 will come your way in one week - BE THERE!!!!!

Good Racing to All With Rexall!

Try Geritol - it's what I use at the home.

            Max Out

Well the Friday night racing for January 16th 2015 is in the history books.
Thanks to Gill for teching the cars.
Thanks to Ron for the track and the time. Thanks to Mrs. Ron also, at least I think Ron made it home before he had to be back at the store to open for Saturday.
Some may say; why a say that; and the reason is that with more than the normal number of racers, more than the normal laughter, more than the usual good natured bickering and also the extra chicken wings and pizza (100 wings and 2 sheet pizzas) the evenings racing did not get over until 11:15 pm. There was extra wings and pizza left over and we determined it was because Russ didn't make to racing.

However, I did not hear anyone complaining.
And I also heard that some even stayed longer.

Great to see Hcn and Bob back.
Welcome to all the new racers. We hope racing at ACE is all you expected and more.

                  • Results of the recent survey

The results are in for the recent survey, about Monday night racing at Ace Hobby.
Thank you to the 10 racers who completed the survey.

                    The results are below. Thanks.
                    Tom

Survey Results (based on 10 responses) Ace Hobby Monday Night Racing 1/21/15

                    1. Rank the following classes in the order that you enjoy racing / building them. 1 is most favorite, 6 is least favorite. The lower the number, the more people like racing / building that class.

Group C2 1.45 (All of these are the average of the 10 responses.)
                    GT (2,A, & 1) 1.95
                    Can AM 3.0
                    DP 3.7
                    Trans Am 5.25
                    NASCAR 5.45
Comments: No doubt on the favorites. C2 & GT(2,A,1); followed by Can Am & DP.

                    2. Would you like to see a new, “Scalextric GT” class be raced, & would you support it?
                    Yes, 8 resonses = 80%; No, 0 responses = 0%; Doesn’t matter / no opinion, 2 = 20%

                    3. As far as motors in this new Scalextric GT class, what would you prefer to run?
                    Stock 18k Scalextric motor, 3 responses = 30%
                    Orange E. B. 21.5k Slot-It motor, 1 response = 10%
                    Either motor, 5 responses = 50%
                    Doesn’t matter / no opinion, 2 = 20%

                    4. Currently, we race 3 different classes, every other week. Odd numbered day of the month is DP, GT,& NASCAR; and even numbered day of the month is Can Am, Group C2, & T/A.
                    Would you prefer to:
Replace one of these classes permanently, 2 responses = 20%
Rotate the class replaced, 6 responses = 60%
                    Doesn’t matter / no opinion, 2 = 20%
Comments from the people who completed the survey:
                    - Rotate NASCAR or T/A for 3 months each.
                    - Replace NASCAR or T/A, rotate.
                    - Rotate every 3 – 4 months.
                    - NASCAR sucks (replace).
                    - Race DP, and the new GT class, together.
                    - Replace DP permanently.
                    - Already have the cars, so don’t replace permanently.

                    5. We now race the classes in the same order, each week. DP, GT, NASCAR. Or Can Am, C2, T/A. Would you like to rotate the order that we race the classes (each week)?
                    Yes, 2 responses = 20%; No, 6 responses = 60%; Don’t know / no opinion, 2 = 20%.
Comments: I think that the racers want to be sure their favorites are raced (C2 & Can Am; and GT(2,A,1) & DP); so, they do NOT want to rotate each week.

                    6. Other comments from responders:
                    - Weight tuning should be allowed in all classes.
                    - Needs to be easier to add cars / manufacturers if built to class specifications.

                    Thank you for your input!

Note: The goal is to have fun, while enjoying close, competitive racing.

                        • New class rules: "Scalextric GT"

Below, are the rules for the new "Scalextric GT" class. These rules will also be available at Ace. They are very similar to the Trans Am class rules, except for the bodies, & choice of 2 motors.

To introduce this new class, we will begin running them with the Daytona Prototype (DP) cars,
starting on February 9th. The DP race will also be open to Scalextric GT, & GTU cars; with each
                          class scored separately.

Have fun building and racing them!
                          Tom

Scalextric GT Rules (revised 2/8/15, revisions are in red), (revised 2/24/15, revisions are in green).
Any sidewinder Scalextric GT car, raced as a GT from 1990 – present, anywhere in the world, may be used in this class. No “GT Lightning” cars are allowed – not a model of a real car. No magnet, 11 volts. The 2 classes (GT & GTU) of these cars will run at the same time. Finishing order will be reported by class.

                          1. Motors: GTU will be the stock Scalextric 18,000 RPM motor. GT will be the Slot-It 21,500 RPM orange end bell motor, or (effective 2/8/16) the Piranha motor. The only difference between the classes will be the motor used. Any eligible Scalextric GT can run either as a GTU (with stock, 18k RPM Scaley motor); or as a GT, (with 21.5k Slot-It orange e. b. motor, or a Piranha black e. b. motor).

                          2. Gearing: will be 12/34 to 12/36, or 11/31 to 11/34, (sidewinder only). “Drop in” replacement gears would consist of a 12T, 7.5 mm pinion (like a NSR #7112 [angle winder] pinion), and a 18 mm (Slot-It) spur gear. 11T pinions of other diameters may be used. Up to 19 mm spur gears may be used, IF there is enough clearance to the track (.015 inches gear-to-track clearance). Modifications to the motor carrier, to use 11T pinions, are allowed, but the motor cannot be lowered.

                          3. Chassis: Must be the stock Scalextric chassis, for the car body used. Cars using Scalextric, or Slot-It, etc. replacement chassis (using a Slot-It pod), or other "3D printed" replacement chassis w/ pod, will compete in the regular GT class (as a GT2, GTA, or GT1).

                          4. Rear: May use aftermarket rear bushings sold at Ace Hobby (not ball bearings), & bushings may be glued to chassis. All cars must use 15 x 8 mm aluminum “small hub” wheels. Tires must be Super Tires #1403RC, or #1403C.

                          5. Front: All cars must use stock, or 15 x 8 mm (or 15 x 7 mm) aluminum “small hub” wheels. Tires may be stock, or any tire sold at Ace Hobby.

                          6. Both ends: Replacement solid (not hollow) axles are allowed. No independently rotating front axles, or wheels. All wheels / tires may be glued / trued. All tires must not stick out past the body, when viewed from above. All wheels must have inserts, or be “mag” type, detailed aftermarket aluminum wheels sold by Ace Hobby.

                          7. Bodies: Must remain stock. Lowering of the body, and modifications to the wheel wells / arches, is not allowed. Racing numbers, etc. are required. If a wing was “original equipment” on the car model, it must be in place for tech inspection. All “glass”, as on the original model car, must be in place. No lexan, etc, replacement glass. Scalextric “super-resistant” GT’s (dark glass, no interior) may be used; however, they must be fitted with a “tray” or “vac” interior. “Body off” verification of the interior at or before tech. inspection, is required for a new build super resistant car’s first run, and whenever requested by the person teching.

                          8. Interior: “Tray” or “Vac” interiors will be allowed. Any interior must have the driver’s head / shoulders / arms, steering wheel, & dashboard, minimum; AND should have at least 4 different colors on it, in addition to black. You can make your own out of sheet plastic (no paper / card interiors are allowed), cut down the stock interior, etc.. Ace will try to get in some Parma “Vac” interiors. All interiors must cover the whole inside of the body, so none of the chassis / motor may be seen, when viewed from above. See #7, above,
about "super resistant" (dark glass) GT's, and their need for similar interiors.

                          9. A “stock”, sidewinder, Scalextric GT can be run, with appropriate rear Super Tires (for the stock plastic rims), and no magnet, if need be. This is to allow inclusion of a brand new car, by a new racer, or a builder that has not yet been able to do their modifications. It is not intended that the totally stock car be raced that way for a long period of time.

                          10. All cars must weigh at least 80 grams. Weight may be added on top of the chassis, not under the chassis. Weight must be lead, or a similar material. Provisionally, the
narrower modern Scalextric GT cars, 59.99 mm wide or less, may weigh less than 80 grams. Examples of the narrower GT's are: Lotus Exige, Porsche 911 GT3, Lotus Evora,
Ford Mustang GT500 (modern), Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo, & Chevy Camaro GT-R.

                          11. All other “General Rules” apply.

                          12. Some Scalextric GT's have magnet pockets that are molded so that they protrude below the bottom of the rest of the chassis. On these cars, sanding the bottom of the
magnet pocket(s) is allowed. Total removal (so there are rectangular holes through the chassis), is NOT allowed. So far, these cars include: Lotus Evora, & McLaren MP12-4C.. (There may be others.)
Some Scalextric GT's are just too low to get minimum clearance using the spec. 1403C / 1403RC tires. So far, this includes the Aston Martin Vantage. For all of the cars mentioned above, in #12: In order to get .032 inch clearance, Super Tires #1404RC, 1404C, 1405RC, or 1405C are allowed. Again, on these cars only.

Other rules, or changes, may come later. This class is a work in progress. These rules are a base line, & may need to be modified as the class gets rolling.
As always, support Ace Hobby, the track owner, whenever possible.
