    Race results for Monday, 12/27

    A record number of drivers came - 15 !!!
Dave, Dominic, and Thomas joined us from Ontario - welcome.
Roger came from just west of Syracuse.
Mark came from Columbia, SC (by way of Amherst).
Josh, (a Saturday magnet racer) joined us for his first no magnet racing.
Of course, Team Big Tree Speedway (from the south towns) was here in force,
along with the rest of the "regulars".

The number of drivers allowed for fully marshaled races, with a couple of racers
allowed to "sit out", on a rotating basis.

    DP

In the large (15 cars) field of DP's, most (if not all) were Sideways Racers.
Racing was close, as it usually is with the very evenly matched DP cars.
An off here, or a sneeze there can cost you multiple positions in the finish order.
The top four positions finished within 1.0 lap of one another. Congratulations George.
Positions 5 - 7 were within .55 lap of one another.
Positions 8 - 11 were within .55 lap of one another.

    Can Am

A mixed field of 14 cars took the start. Three Fly Porsches (the 908's of Yellow Dog
and Roger, and Russ' 917) went against 11 Slot-Its (Chaparrals, Ferrari 312's, &
Alfa's). It shall be noted that Steve drove an Alfa. In fast, close race, with the top
three finishers only .90 lap apart, the Chaparrals of George & Al just beat Gary's
Ferrari. Congratulations George. Positions 4 - 9 finished within .60 lap of one another!

    1.George, 58.95 laps

    Slot-It Group C2
Thanks Dan for documenting the results in the previous post!

Thanks to all who came. Thanks to Ron for the track time.
Next Monday is an odd numbered day of the month, so the third race will be Group C2's.
We have two Mondays in a row that are odd numbered days of the month, for C2's.

        Slot-It S2 tires availability

Regarding the recent unavailability of S2 tires...

Note the Slot Car Illustrated thread, in the forum, "Manufacturer's Corner",
"Slot-It News", "S2's MIA" (started by Biggy). Thanks for asking the question!

        Good news.
S2 tires are being put into the distributor "pipeline", and should be available soon.

        Happy New Year.

Monday no magnet racing start time @ 6:00 PM

I would imagine that the Monday no magnet racing will start at 6:00 PM
(as it has been), with practice before 6:00 PM.

Tom is right. At 5pm track voltage goes to 12v.

                Race results for 1/3/11

13 drivers showed up, allowing for fully marshalled racing (and a "sit out", for the on deck
                racer).

Chris came from the far side of Rochester, and Thomas & Dominic from Ontario, Canada.
Most of Team Big Tree Speedway made it from the south towns.
Ron entered a car in all classes - welcome "back" Ron!
The group was wondering if Bagman Racing was still around, or if he expired
                from watching too much football?

                DP

The entire field consisted of Sideways Racers, in various liveries. Yellow Dog has been
keeping his known to be fast Sun Trust in the back of his box for a long time now, but it
was entered tonight. With Geo and Gary not here, the podium might be occupied by
different people. Yellow Dog won going away, by 1.90 laps over the next driver,
congratulations Dan, a new lap record for DP's !
Second - fourth were within .50 lap of one another.
Fifth - tenth were within 1.15 lap of one another.

1.Yellow Dog, 59.55 laps, (new lap record for DP's)
                2.Russ, 57.65
                3.Al, 57.20
                4.Chris, 57.15
                5.Tom, 56.80
6.Ron, 56.50 (by fast lap times)
                7.MD Racing, 56.50
                8.Doug, 56.10
                9.Dominic, 55.95
                10.Steve, 55.65
                11.Thomas, 53.70
                12.Josh, 49.30
                13.John, 39.55 (mechanical problems)

                fast laps:
yellow, 11.929 seconds, All by Yellow Dog!
                black, 11.749
                white, 11.846
                red, 11.702

                Can Am

There were two Fly cars in the field, Ron and Russ drove Porsche 917's. Chris entered
his very smooth & quiet NSR Ford GT 40 (with an orange end bell). The rest of the field
consisted of an Alfa, 2 Chaparrals, and 6 Ferrari 312's. MD Racing was very happy to be
driving a Ferrari, after wrestling with his Fly Porsche 917 for two years.
As before, no Geo & Gary should make for different people on the podium.
In a close finish, with positions 1 - 8 being within 1.40 laps of one another, MD Racing
drove to what may be his first Can Am win, congratulations Jay.

                1.MD Racing, 57.75 laps
                2.Chris, 57.40
                3.Ron, 57.05
                4.Steve, 56.80
                5.Yellow Dog, 56.65
                6.Tom, 56.60
                7.Russ, 56.55
                8.Al, 56.30
                9.Doug, 54.85
                10.Thomas, 53.50
                11.Josh, 49.70
                12.John, 45.60

                fast laps:
                yellow, Russ 11.687 seconds
                black, Tom 12.040
                white, Russ 11.913
                red, MD Racing 12.200

                Slot-It Group C2

The grid was heavy with Porsche 956 long (low) tails (with at least 6 entered).
How would Ron's just regeared car do? Could the Saubers of MD Racing & Yellow Dog
stand up the the onslaught of Porsches? How would the new, "Newman" livery 956's of
Al & Tom do? In a fast, close race, the top 4 finishers were within 1.0 lap of one
another. Russ took first by .15 lap, with a new lap record for C2"s, congratulations Russ.

1.Russ, 59.75 laps, (new lap record for C2's)
                2.Yellow Dog, 59.60
                3.Al, 58.90
                4.Tom, 58.75
                5.Ron, 57.25
                6.Thomas, 57.10
                7.Chris, 56.65
                8.MD Racing, 55.05
                9.Doug, 53.50
                10. John, 46.05

                fast laps:
                yellow, Russ 11.552 seconds
                black, Russ 11.638
                white, Russ 11.459
                red, Al 11.646

Thanks to the drivers who came. Thanks to Ron, for the track time.
Next Monday is an even numbered day of the month (1/10), so the third race will be GT's.

                  Friday night no-mag racing

Would anybody be interested in running LMP's, Old NASCAR(monogram) and something like T/A cars on Friday nights?
LMP's would be for modern LMP cars with in-line motors (25k max).
                  Old NASCAR, weight and ST's.
T/A, Scaly, SCX and and any other brand that fits.
                  Think about it.

Not that I would be up enough to really count.. But I take it you are talking non mag?

is the 25k Motor for all the classes or just the Stock car?

                    What tires?

                    what voltage?

Can we change the gears to something that will last? plastic pinion gears suck...

An do we have to run the press on wheels... I hate press on wheels...

Can we make our own chassis? just wishful thinking there I would love to see a scratch built chassis class

Yes, no-mag. That's why it's on this page.
                      25k max motor for in-line LMP's
Tires and wheels will be something sold at Ace. LMP will have open gears as sold at Ace.
T/A, more towards Slot.it gear train.
This is just in the thinking stage. If enough racers want to race something like this, we will. If not, no.
The Monogram NASCARs will be the least modified of the classes. Super Tires and lots of lead (they are sooo top heavy).
                      Could be fun.

                            1/10/11 race results

14 drivers came, enabling us to run fully marshalled for 2 races, and mostly marshalled
for the GT race. Thanks Dan, for posting the results of the GT's.

It was another international race night, with Thomas, Dominic, & Vin coming from Ontario.
Roger made it from just this side of Syracuse. Team Big Tree Speedway was up, in
force, from the south towns. Bagman Racing broke away from the TV, now that
                            "Monday Night Football" is over.
Most of the rest of the "regulars" were here, except Dunlop's secret weapon for world
tire manufacturing dominance, who (apparently) worked OT (again). Oh well, I guess
it's more money to spend at Ace Hobby - ha!.

                            DP

The stars finally aligned, and all of the "known to be fast" DP's were on the track tonight.
                            Past and current race winners had their DP's on the grid. Bagman's and Russ' red comets;
Al & Yellow Dog's Sun Trust cars; Geo, Roger, & Ron's cars. The list was long.
The track was a little "cold", and practice times were not stellar - "Sand baggers"!
"Here we go boys, let's go racing", borrowing a line from NASCAR's "DW".
It was a fast, hard fought race, with Yellow Dog taking first over George by 1.2 laps.
A new class lap record was set, congratulations Dan.
                            Positions 3 - 7 were only .70 lap apart.

                            1.Yellow Dog, 59.80 laps
                            2.George, 58,60

Three Fly's were on the grid, the Porsche 917's of Ron & Russ, and Thomas' Porsche
                            908. The rest were Slot-It's: 4 Chaparral's, 3 Ferrari 312's, and 2 Alfa's.
Many past and current race winners were at the starting line.
In a fast, hard fought race, George took first over Al by .70 lap. Al's untimely "off",
entering the "start / finish straight", with seconds left, was most of the difference.
A new class lap record was set, congratulations George.
Positions 3 & 4 were tied, and determined by fast lap time, as were positions 8 & 9.
                            Finishers 3 - 9 were only 1.05 lap apart.

                            1.George, 60.60 laps
                            2.Al, 59.90
3.Russ, 58.10 (by fast lap time)
                            4.Tom, 58.10
                            5.Roger, 58.05
                            6.Steve, 57.85
                            7.Yellow Dog, 57.25
8.Ron, 57.05 (by fast lap time)
                            9.Bagman Racing, 57.05
                            10.Doug, 55.65
11.Dominic, 53.45 (electrical problems, wire pulled out)
                            12.Thomas, 52.70

                            fast laps:
                            yellow, George 11.576 seconds
                            black, George 11.649
                            white, George 11.576
                            red, Al 11.869

                            Reported earlier, by Yellow Dog.

The track may have started slow, but it sure heated up fast with all the hot laps being
put down by several drivers. New class lap records were set in two races.
Thanks to Ron, for the track time; and thanks to the drivers who came.
Next Monday is an odd numbered day of the month (1/17), so the third race will be
                            Group C2's.
Also, Bagman Racing is donating a prize, to go to the person with the highest
number of completed laps (cumulative) over the three races, on 1/17/11.

Ron and I worked on the track today and the problem with the red lane looks like it's gone. Two pieces of track were replaced and some wiring was checked out.
We also worked on several areas of the black lane and there seemes to be a big improvement.
This is part of a general over haul of the track Ron has started because of the support of his racers.
