  • Race #5 Ivoryton Raceway

We will be doing the qualifying runs on Wednesday afternoon.

    Qualifying Results

    Ivoryton Raceway

The track is a six lane Carrera oval with Trackmate timing, it is located in a newly built two bay garage that has heat and insulation. AC will soon be working as well.
The track is smooth and fast, the white lane was used for the qualifying runs. I did all of the COY cars and Bob Lee did all of the COT cars. The track was set at 10 volts. Before each run the car's tires were wiped clean. The car was run until it seemed to be maxed out and the tires were cleaned again before more laps were run to be sure that the lowest time had been registered.

I would like to Thank Rich D. for all the help qualifying the cars, I couldn't have done it without him. It was real hot, but we hung in there and got it done. We were both pretty tired after we finished. REL13

        Robert and Rich,
Thanks for the effort in the heat! Iíll likely get the 83 COT sent back to be after this race... as it seems something broke in it... having run top 5 for the first few races and right to the bottom these last few...

Iím looking forward to the race!

Scott, I can get to the race early and see if I can find out what has gone wrong with the car. Right now it acts like it has zero grip tires on the back. Looking at the results from the previous races something happened between the qualifying for #3 and the race. It is too bad that we did not notice the drop in performance sooner.
One of the cars, #44 I believe, was jumping out of gear, that needs to be fixed or the gears will get chewed up.

Thanks Rich, Iím interested to see what happened to it. I donít believe I had changed much from 2017, it was the chassis under the #4 car here are the teardown shots from the end of last year for comparison.

Just thinking, maybe the rear tires are worn down too much? Might be a ďgas tankĒ clearance issue?

Hope my cars run better than their qualifying. Have fun. Scott my #12 blew the last segment of the last race because the interior came loose and dropped on the rear tires. Hopefully for you it is something that simple.

                  Race Results

We were short handed, so we only ran the two outside lanes. I ran all of the cars in the white lane for both races. REL did the COYs in red and 34ever1 ran the COTs in red.
The cars were hooked up better than they were for qualifying. When I checked the #83 car before the race I found that the tires were glazed. A little contact cleaner on a rag got the glaze off. All of the cars had their tires cleaned at the start of their heats.

Rich, thanks for checking into the issues with my 83 COT.

Congratulations to SA14 on his first DaVols Forums Cup COY win, as well as the rest of the podium finishers. Looks like Maddick’s 90 car gained back a little ground!

I have been trying to contact sh0wtyme for his address to ship for the next race... but I have not heard back from him. Robert is going to hold onto the cars until he end of this week so I can either get sh0wtyme’s address of decide to skip that round and move on to Washington.

Thanks to REL, RichD, and 34ever1 for driving and hosting this event!

It is too bad that we did not notice the problem with the #83 car before race #3. The car had been a top qualifier just before the race. When you do a race of this sort with so many cars things can easily fall through the cracks. The other cars did not seem to have the glazing problem. If you are hosting a race you might make note of how the cars performed during the previous races, especially during the qualifying runs. If a car that was fast had a large drop in performance it probably would be in need of a repair or adjustment.
