    IRB Speedway Roval

Qualifying this afternoon, will post results this evening. COY cars do well on the roval, COTs are very much a handful. The lower rpm COTs, if they handle, get around good. Should be interesting.

    Additional details

I didn't mention some details: heats were two minutes each, each car ran both lanes. Ends of the track were marshalled as was directly in front of the drivers themselves. Any deslots in the middle unreachable by marshalls we used track calls. If both cars came off together we did track calls. There were a couple exceptions but we tried to be consistent. Voltage was set to 10v which was a tick less than qualifying. All cars had a good rear tire cleaning before todays race. Overall I think it went well.

    RIB Roval Finishing Order

Ok racers, the roval produced the expected excitement and some epic racing. Very close finishes throughout both divisions. I will post pics and video on the FB page soon. Keep in mind as you review the finishing order that I did not race the cars. I qualified them, I did race management as the driving was in capable hands of three of the top racers in the Tampa Bay area. A special thanks to War Eagle, Josuah and Tom for giving their afternoon to race the cars for us. This was their first visit to my track. Overall, I believe they did very well.

As I posted after qualifying, some cars just struggled on the infield course. While some could turn a fast lap during their run, they could also spin out easily and some cars drove like they had oval setups and just couldn't deal consistently with the righthand turns.

Congratulations to Lance for sweeping both divisions, his cars were the most consistent overall and it showed with wins. Nice job by the podium finishers as well.

I do expect the oval race to be just as exciting and probably with different results. I will be doing the oval solo sometime this weekend and get the cars shipped out Monday. Scott, send me the next address.

This roval seems to be playing out very similar to what NASCAR just dealt with in Charlotte. No one really has a clue what to expect!!

It would be very cool if you can post some pics/videos from the race

Maybe we can talk War Eagle River into building a car or two for next season!!

    Ken,
I see my #2 swapped places with my #12 in position from my little oval. Keep that Dodge going forward. Hope the #12 can move up on race day Glad to get a top five in qualifying. Podiums only count on race day Just hope it holds. Now my COY cars well maybe one will break into the top ten.

Scott, the track is rubbered in, I have thousands of laps on the track mostly with NSR Super grips and Super Tire urethanes. I'm sure it will improve even more as the race progresses. We will run the COY first. The COT'S cover the oval portion just fine, it is the infield course where they struggle. I'm hoping these COT'S don't blow my drivers minds, they may not have seen anything like these cars lol

I look forward to the results!

With the crew you are assembling I’m sure the cars will be driven well. It’s a very close group at the front of both classes with the top 5 within less than a second!!!

    Ken,
Is the track “rubbred in” or is this the first major run for the roval? Just thinking the COT class may pick up grip if it is run after the COY race. We have witnessed this on a few tracks in NEPA

Best lap out of a 10 lap run on the black lane, which is the outside lane.

The race is scheduled for tomorrow, should have a few fast drivers to help.

Do note, the IRB Roval is a tight lower speed course. Smooth power at slower speeds and grip is key. Too much low end torque causes these cars to get crazy and hard to drive making it necessary to back off the throttle. We will do our absolute best to give each car the best run possible on this track. Good luck to all!
