It's a nice long list of available bodies, IMO, that will allow for a lot of variety on the grid, at least until the second season!

Personally, while I like the idea of a starting date of 2010 to eliminate the Mosler and one or two other cars that would dominate immediately, I don't see an issue with allowing GT2, GTE and GTLM cars to compete along with the GT3 cars. In slot car terms, the only thing we really worry about are the length width and general scale of the car, and in most cases these dimensions will be close enough that none of the cars will have a distinct advantage over others.

I understand Chris' motivation for eliminating cars like the Ford GTE, based on what happened in full scale, but my thinking is that if anyone can get the big-a$$ car to work as a slot car, then good luck to them! Similarly, the Black Arrow Aston Martin DBR9 and Lamborghini Gallardo are close enough in size and shape to newer versions like the Vantage and the Huracan that they could be used without any unfair advantage. This would open up the choices for people who may already have such cars in their stables.

If anyone is worried about a possible advantage or disadvantage for bodies from Area71, I compared four bodies last night. All are Corvette C7, from Area71, Carrera, ScaleAuto and NSR. Size-wise they are as close to identical as could be expected from four different manufacturers. The only real differences are in the height and position of the rear wings. I weighed them and the ScaleAuto came in lightest at 21 grams, followed by the NSR at 22, the Area71 at 23 grams, and the Carrera at 30 grams. Since my scale does not measure to decimals of a gram, the actual differences may be smaller. The Carrera is obviously quite a lot heavier than the others, but the extra toughness may be an advantage for a proxy series.

Anyway, whatever the final consensus is, this looks like it will be a really nice format to build on the successes of the GP5 series.

Take care all, and Happy Holidays.

      Dennis

Sticking to the official homologation list would rule out Moslers.

I can confirm that starting next year, we will switch to GT3 type cars - the rules will otherwise remain the same, I will however add to the rules the following items:

            1) the bodies will be GT3 and GTE LM cars from the approved list. Only cars that are listed will be allowed - they will 2010 and newer
            2) All cars must have clear windshields and where applicable clear side windows. The driver must be visible from the outside and the driver must have an imaginary line of sight out the front windshield.
            3) All tyres must be black rubber

Thanks also for the input and your feedback, in addition to the comments from a competitive slot car perspective, I also want to ensure that we pay homage to the 1:1 racing series and the cars we race with will at least somewhat represent a field of cars that could race against each other in the real world. Thus I am sticking with cars 2010 and newer, and will add to the list the REVO Slot Viper, I will also keep the Area71 cars and the Ferrari & AM DBR (some evidence that Young Driver AMR - Fischer Racing raced that car until 2011) from Black Arrow. The Murcielago is not in period and will not be included. There is some evidence that the Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 by Reiter Engineering continue to race after 2010, so I will allow the Ninco Gallardo - please note rule #2 above for those that have plans to enter the Lightning version of that car.

Although I love the new Ford GTE I just do not feel that the car fits into this category, and since it is an extreme low production 1:1 car, I would like to exclude it from this series. Again there are so many choices I doubt it would be an issue.

Since the wings on these cars will be fragile, I am looking for some ideas on what can be allowed to strengthen the wing while keeping the scale and appearance of the car.

Look for a final list of eligible cars soon.

Juicy list of cars, many of those models can be raced at Australian Plafit Championships in 1/32 GT class.
Have a couple of bodies in mind that are quick, decisions decisions....

Any advice you can give on what car to run would be much appreciated, as mentioned before I have no experience with these.

Unlike Henry Ford and the colour options on the Model T, there are almost too many to options!

I have been told that I missed a few cars, I will update the list.

                      Please also note:

The structure and qualification for this proxy will remain as it is today, no changes other than the car type. I did consider opening it up, but decided to give the qualification system a bit more time to see how it goes.

Top 16 from this year's race + any previous series champion (unfortunately that includes "you know who") will have an automatic "green jacket" (to borrow a phrase from the Masters) into the next year's series. Only previous champs Leon and Dennis are not racing with us at the moment, so if both of them enter, and all of the current top 16 return, it will leave spots for 6 more cars in the field of 24. We will run a qualification round if needed to determine who takes those spots.

One note that I will ensure to clarify is that if any of the top 16 does not return, then it does NOT mean that position 17 or 18 etc move up, it only means that there are more openings for new entrants - hope this is clear as mud!

I highly recommend the Carrera Mercedes AMG GT3 with standard chassis.

                              Heads up Chris.

Last night I raced a Sideways Huracan on a commercial 8 lane routed track against Thunderslot Lolas, lots of Slot.it's and a well tuned and driven NSR Mosler. The Hurican was straight out of the box with just the tyres trued and pod screws backed off a bit. Even with it's standard 17k motor it was more than a match for the 25k motored cars in it's class, winning by 2 laps over 90 laps and setting fastest lap on the night.

2nd place was a Slot.it Porsche and then the Mosler.

I can see this proxy being Hurican dominated.

                              Cheers
