  • Group 5 - Round 3 Audi1

The cars are now on route to Allan, and I know he had a preference for running the race earlier in January, so I expect to hear from him soon with an ETA.

Good luck to ALL, well at least most of YOU!

    Chris

There's more than a chance, Chris........

We ran the Round #3 Qualy today, but before I get to the results, here are some pics of the track and the field.

The track is 16' x 6' and is very technical, with one of almost everything in it except elevation changes; a chicane, an increasing radius turn, a decreasing radius turn, a disguised hairpin, a constant radius sweeper, a segmented sweeper and three straights.

      Image

And here is your field, in the staging area:

and on the track in numerical order:

Bob Bianchi from Slot Car Corner came down to do the honors. We ran each car for 10 laps to get used to its performance characteristics, then 10 more laps for fastest time. We also kept track of the 10-lap average times and made comments on each car's performance along the way. All cars had their tires cleaned on a sticky pad before being entered into the 10 lap pre-qualy run and again just before their 10 lap qualy. The track was well rubbered-in based on having run 250 laps with a soft rubber tired car the night before. The qualy was run in the middle (white) lane.

Just before the qualy, we discovered something that seemed to be amok, but we never could quite figure it out....

And that's it for now. We're having trouble with the actual race date at this point, because one of our regular racers is not available this weekend. We will get it scheduled as soon as possible and I will update you on the race date after this weekend. Sorry for the delay.

Sorry, but SCI doesn't seem to like me anymore; it's very hard for me to post to this forum and it no longer supports my browser. So, I'm posting the results of Round #3 over on the HomeRacingWorld board. Look for the "Round #3 (Audi1)" thread.

                  Thank you Alan,
Alan thanks again for doing another great job of hosting the race and qualifying. Congrats to the top three making the podium. Enjoyed the pics. Looks like there was some exciting close racing. Was there any video of the race. I was glad to see that I make it past the last position of gualifying. But just to let you all know that I have a firm grasp on the 24 spot. But I am looking for the challengers who wish to fight for it. Lol. Can I ask a guestions from the next host. Is there anyway I can get some video of my car to see these issues. I have been enjoying all the chatter from everyone and the results. I am also looking forward to the next race and the rest.

                  Cheers
                  The Rockie......

Great result and congratulations to the podium cars. Looks like a close race, 1 or 2 de slots would cost big time. Thanks to everyone involved in organising and driving round 3. This race should close the gaps on the score board.

                        Cheers,

Thanks Alan & helpers for the run
With so many cars with similar lap times it will only take a slight off to change 5 or 6 places & making the series more exciting
                          Cheers Jimmy
