    I don't know the history behind the cars but I find it interesting that the Tempest was in the running seeing as how it was an intermediate sized car.

      Bob Tullius drove the Pontiac Tempest at Lime Rock in April 1971. Car was built by young factory engineers from Pontiac, rear wheels were two degrees of negative camber. Was in the top five till it blow a head gasket at the end of the race lap 121, Started in last place. Even challenge Mark Donohue in the #6 Penske Javelin for the lead at one point.
