  • Repairs to cars

There have been a few questions relating to the repair/replacement of parts to keep cars running.

Because this is the first time we've run this proxy in this format (14 rounds) some owners are finding parts are wearing out, particularly tyres. To keep the cars running I'm allowing replacements only if necessary and as long as there are no performance gains i.e. no replacing tyres for better gripping ones or changes of gear ratio.

Any car that suddenly performs much better after a repair will be reviewed and may lose points.

Can any repairs to cars be listed here so everyone knows what's going on.

    Thanks

    Paul

    Results from Round 9:

    1. Mitch's tires were replaced. It was to the point you could actually see through the tires. In all my days of racing I have never seen tires that low.

    Results from Round 10:

    1. Re-attached a loose wire. Not sure which car.
    2. Adjusted the gear mesh on the bov car. Appeared the axle stopper had moved a little. Gear would have stripped otherwise.
    3. Radarek's car needs a new chassis. The guide mount has snapped off. Nothing we can do here. Car needs to be sent home for repair.
    4. Going to check all the cars for clearance. I'm sure we probably have some issues coming.

I was wondering if there is any up date on the condition of the cars yet Kidvoltage.

Not so far, hope to post it later today. Been busy with a few other things. Doesn't look like any of the hosts will be ready for a week or two so we do have a little time. Initial inspection showed about 4 or 5 cars in danger of being track draggers. Radarek's car is in the mail. Hopefully it can be a repair of short duration.

Brumos, I found out why your car finished last.

That has to be the worst example of tyre wear that I've ever seen on a slot car. It struggled to complete a lap on my track, it's worn away so much the metal underneath is showing and the other tyre is almost as bad.

I don't have any Paul Gage tyres but I'll replace with Yellowdogs if that's OK.

            Cheers

            Paul

PS. A word of warning - when we say the Aussie tracks that are painted in Ferrodore are abrasive you better believe us!

WOW!!! Rookie mistake as I thought I was prepared enough for this. Paul, thank you for reaching out as I noticed the continued decline in performance. I can send a set of PGs, miss rounds until the repair is made and continue from there or I'm comfortable with the car being retired from competition. Good luck to the remaining competitors

I'll throw on a spare set of wheels/tyres to get you through this Wednesday's race.

The next race won't be until January so lots of time for you to organise replacement tyres. I'll PM you the address.

Please retire the Brumos car from further racing and classify it a DNF. Great Proxy and I look forward to competing next season

Sorry, only just saw this. Your car was raced last night and did well. It actually had too much grip which caused it to deslot on the tight corner and lose a few laps. It should have done much better.

I'd prefer to keep it in the proxy, you've already been penalised with it's poor performance over the last few rounds. Lets see how much better it can go.

I'll second that, it was a real pleasure to drive your car last night.
Leave it in the proxy and let everyone else that drives it enjoy it too.

                      Cheers
