  • Round 5 - 5 December 2018

Round 5 will be this Wednesday night (Aussie time) on Ben's track.

I thought I had photos but none on my phone so you'll have to wait to Wednesday to see what it looks like. I'll be there so lots of videos to come.

    Cheers

Here's how the cars finished last night.

The finishing order doesn't tell the whole story on the way some of these cars performed in the race.

Benís track has a few off camber corners and his hairpin can be a killer with its zig zag approach - it caught out a lot of cars. Radarek lapped well because his car could be driven through there without a problem, ALS car did the least number of laps but not because it was slow. When it stayed in the slot it was doing good lap times but its narrow track and tall body were its downfall. A car with a high centre of gravity does not do well on a track with a zig zag approach to a hairpin. Because the gold Alfa started racing in the first heat it was the first car off and did its other 2 heats later that night with Radarekís car. I was watching it and was surprised how well it stayed with the black Mercedes, losing only a car length per lap right up to when it desloted, then again a few laps later.

Gasís car should be renamed the silent assassin, it was smooth and quiet and beautiful to drive. No vices and handled the off camber corners well.

Same with CJís, so nice to drive and my brother made a comment about where did this car come from? It loved this track.

Bovís car held the lap record right up to the last minute of the last heat when it was pipped by Radarek's car. The track owner was amazed how well this standard looking Slot.it performed on his track and would love some tips on setting up his Calibra. For him this was the car of choice for the night.

Peter Gís car was the twin to mine, so similar in the way it drove and sure footed. Push it hard though and the back would start to slide and lose time.

As the cars went down the field they were more prone to coming out and had to be driven more carefully.

    Videos and spreadsheet to come.

This is Ben's track. The cars go through the bottom corner left to right.

Thanks for the effort guys, and thanks to whoever is responsible for getting the BARC BMW running again. Some spirited racing, with some hoots and hollers.

This site and my Ipad do not seem to like each other. Following along, but every post I make is a real adventure trying to get through. Most times I have been just giving up. Sorry for not being a more vocal contributor to the action

Thanks for the run and the details on how the cars ran. I haven't had a chance to watch the video, but I look forward to it.

This series is an adventure for sure! I haven't been able to figure out what to expect, so I don't expect anything. It actually makes it more fun to watch it progress.

            Hey Paul !

'Twas quite the adventure for me to watch that heat with my car in the middle lane.....

It sure looked like the car and that lane / driver got on very well... Excellent, brave driving (around the outside? )

I'm guessing the other lanes didn't go quite so well - but no matter, I was very impressed.......

Thanks to all involved for putting on the round, congrats to the Podiumites!!

            Cheers, Tony.

I dont understand how the guys downunder post race result spreadsheets, videos and comments without issues.
i cannot even post on this site without logging in 2 or 3 times and still have database errors.

I think the beverages down under are a bit stronger, either that, or it's a labour of "love"!

We're a day ahead of you so if I start early enough I can get the info onto this website in only 2 days of retrying and you to think it was done overnight.

The trick is to have 2 sessions open and keep logging into one whenever you're trying to save anything in the other session.

And yes, it is a labour of love plus a bit of sheer stubbornness.

The cars are on their way to Radarek in Canada. Posted late to avoid any chance of losing them in the Christmas/new year frenzy.
