  • Sound Problems with UR30

Went to help a friend troubleshoot his UR install and what we found was that some user-selected sound files would cause an MFC error and shut the program. Once we figured out the issue it was easy to just disable the sound files in question.

So the question, why these wav files? Does UR30 only support wav files of a certain quality/kbps?

    Anyone else seen this?

Could it be that files need to be in a certain folder?

I would not think that UR30 would care about bitrate of the .wav unless it uses its own codec to process the file (seems unlikely).

One test to try: can the suspect .wav be played by any other application?

Yes they can be played by testing them within UR on the sounds tab. They are all located in the UR sounds folder.

So the error is only generated when the sound is event triggered.

Can you try swapping the names of the user sound and a stock sound? Could be that the event handler is tied to a list that is not being edited correctly by the sound manager tab.

No, the error occurs as soon as you start a race regardless of where in the race the sound might occur.

So try renaming [stocksound].wav to kooltoonsfromtheseventies.wav and [crashyusersound].wav to [stocksound].wav

Does it work when the new noise has the familiar name? What about when the familiar sound has a new name?

Ok, I'll give it a try.

                UR30 supports:
                - .wav files, specify a link to played wav file in the sound settings
                - or spoken phrases. In this case you can use some bracket surrounded keywords. These keywords are replaced by their real value during the heat
