  • Calgary, Alberta 1/32 slot club

    Hello all,

We are a Calgary, Alberta based 1/32 scale racing club looking for new members. Membership costs nothing; rather, we chip in $5 each race to cover the hostís costs for snacks & beverages.

We race from the beginning of September through April, every second Sunday. Our tracks are located in membersí homes. All of our tracks MDF routed and either copper taped or braided. House controllers (Professor Motor) are used at all tracks, so no need to worry about buying your own.

We race a number of classes, with the basic premise that basic tuning is applied with the only parts being replaced are the rear (urethane) tires. This helps to level the playing field, and reduce the $ required to field competitive cars.

To help keep things fair, we seed racers based on their previous results to help encourage close heat racing. We normally run 20 lap sprint races to the finish for each heat. Races are marshaled. For each heat, points are awarded based on order of finish which avoids potential issues if you have a bad heat (# laps) - so it helps keep the results tighter so one bad heat does not adversely impact your overall results.

The points are used as part of a season long points chase where lower scores (or races not attended) can be dropped in your totals; 3 lowest scores are dropped for each season of 8 rounds. Our year is broken down into separate Fall and Winter seasons, with things resetting after the Fall.

The points creates some banter and friendly rivalries and helps to encourage attendance. Overall, things are competitive in a fun way in a VERY relaxed environment.

We also periodically run some fun team-based enduro races (2-3 hrs) which are also a lot of fun because we mix up and balance the teams.
