Default 2018 Scalextric Vintage TransAm N. America Championship

Scalextric has authorized Great Traditions (aka GTSLOTS) to run a North America race program for their Vintage TransAm car models. Regional races will be scheduled, culminating in a North America Final race to be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018. The Finals will take place at Great Traditions, 831 Byberry Road, Philadelphia, PA. Track opens 8 am, tech inspection starts at 10 am, racing scheduled to start about 1 pm.

To qualify for the finals, you must finish in the top 4 of one of the 2018 Scalextric Vintage TransAm regional races to be announced soon, or have a prior champion's exemption as a previous winner of a GTSLOTS championship final within the past 5 years.

Any shops, clubs or slot car organizations interested in holding a regional event contact Robert Holt by phone (908-397-7886) or e-mail ([email protected])

Thanks for showing interest, we'd love to have more clubs/groups/stores involved. If you're a member of a club, let them know about this series and if there's enough interest, you can host a regional race.

If you run on a track in a local hobby store or commercial raceway, a regional race can be run there as well, so please let them know. In either case, the top 4 finishers are eligible to run in the finals at Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, June 16.

I am in the same boat, since none of the clubs I race with will be holding qualifiers because of short notice and other reasons I will not have the chance to go. I know that the people running this have been doing this for a fairly long time but with the logistics of the qualifiers it seems this is more of a regional event than a national event. I would like to see the race opened up for those of us who do not get the chance to compete in qualifiers.

Thanks for posting your comments. We would like to get more clubs, stores and groups across N. America interested in running in the finals. Several years ago, we've had racers from as far west as Oregon participate in finals, and regional races as far south as Florida. With rising travel costs, we now typically have 4-5 states of racers represented, the last couple of years we had Michigan, NY, NJ, PA and Maryland participate.

I'll communicate your comments Rich Shanfeld, who works with slot car manufacturers to put these championships together. Regarding short notice, we've tried to get rules publicized on SCI and the Great Traditions website at least two months in advance of the finals, based on feedback we've received from past participants. How much notice do you feel would be sufficient for time for the clubs/groups you run with to plan a regional race? And what other information do you feel would be helpful to get groups like yours to participate?

Thanks again.

Default Head Count

Hi guys,

May is cruising along and next week is the TA regional in Edison, NJ. If you plan on attending this race I would like to get a head count. This will help with the planning of the food and amount of time for heats.

If you need directions or other information regarding the directions, track, etc. send me a private message.

Thanks,
Paul
