Mini Grid Expands to Grand Prix Kartways

Mini Grid, the Toronto based motorsport retail specialist store, will be expanding to a second location in the Grand Prix Kartways facility at Downsview Park this spring it has been announced.

The new store, which replaces the current Grand Prix Slots, will undergo a complete facelift and renovation upon Mini Grid’s arrival in mid-April. The planned reopening of the ‘new’ store will be early June. The design objective of the new space will be one that is bright, warm and welcoming to younger enthusiasts and families while still true to the hard core enthusiasts. Still with the emphasis on slot cars, the new venue will also expand its range of slot car offerings with new lines and up to 3 operating slot car circuits on display for customers to sample. When complete the store will encourage further participation through hands-on interactive displays featuring a dedicated children’s slot car track and ‘play action’ zone; along with a wide selection of everything motorsport that Mini Grid is known for with books, DVD’s, models and clothing. The centerpiece of the new store will be a brand new ‘professional’ 4-6 lane slot car track that will be available for general lapping and racing; and also for parties and corporate events in conjunction with Grand Prix Kartways.

The current tenant, Grand Prix Slots, is owned and operated by Ernie Mossetti. Mossetti wants to focus his time and effort on his new venture, the design, engineering, manufacturing and promotion of Mr. SlotCar, a high-end slot car line that has been positively received in the slot car industry with his first release of the Le Mans winning Mazda 787B.

No, the new store is not open... yet. Progress is moving along and the expected opening date is July 14th... hopefully we will be able to stick to this date if all goes well.

We will be in Toronto on July 18th, and would like to visit the new store.

it was decided just this morning to delay our official opening for a couple of weeks. Despite a huge effort things are a bit behind but the new venue looks great.

However the store will be operational and open beginning next week, so please come on by and check it out.

What are your hours of operation - Wednesday?
How's your inventory - lots of cars on hand? Or should we drive to the other location for that?

If you are interested in inventory and cars, my recommendation would be to come to the current store (Mini Grid on Mt. Pleasant). It is open Wednesday 11am to 6pm.

I certainly encourage you to come to the new store and have a look... but it is still in final assembly. We are their everyday from late morning on but hours are not yet set. Official store opening will be within the next 2 weeks.
