I had gathered some Ninco Prorace parts, so I thought I would see if I could get my Ninco Lamborghini Gallardo to run with my Ninco Lightning Audi R8R and Ford GT? The Gallardo was the "Flat EX" version, which is the first release and came with the NC-6 motor installed, so it already ran quicker than the other standard Ninco anglewinders I owned. I left the original NC-6 motor, but added Ninco Prorace ball bearings, 17mm wheels and inserts, and 11/33 metal anglewinder gears. I not only like the looks with the new wheels, but was pleasantly surprised by the performance. It runs very close the the factory Ninco Lightning cars on my track.
what did the change run you ? considereing just such an up-grade to my R8 audi lightened . i`ve priced out some parts at ED and i could just buy a new car .

Yeah, it's a great mod if you already had some ProRace parts lying around, like Pete did. Pretty spendy if you go to the shop and buy them all off the shelf.
Pete, looks great with those inserts! Are you using the old ProRace wheels, or the ProRace EVO wheels?
Just saw the post, do all the lightening cars run pretty close to one another as they seem as fast as slot.it and NSR on my carrera plastic track. Those Lambos are great looking cars and I would llike to get one at some point to go with my Ford GT.

Well, the Lambo is built for a button magnet, so if you're running with magnets, this Lamborghini will be left for dead. Still one of my favorite cars to drive, though.
No-mag, on some tracks the Gallardo has been able to keep up with the others, but not on all tracks. I think there's a little more potential in the Ford GT and the Audi R8, but they're all really fun cars.
ElSecundo thanks for the advice appreciate it, they are really well made cars and love the quality of the parts, yes it is a fun car to run and fast i will take a look at getting an R8 to go with it.

Hey Pete, it didn't even register that you were using the blue gears. Some people have called the blue gears useless, but if you can manage the torque, cars with the blue gears can be wickedly fast. I used the blue gears in a NC-2 BMW M3, and the way it gets out of a corner is unreal. Not much good on longer straights, but wow, can they launch!
Chris, try an R8 as soon as you can. Pay special attention to make sure the rear wheels are round. I have one of the non-Lightning versions that happens to have very good plastic wheels, and it's an amazing driver on wood or plastic. I think this car is a freak of nature, because it doesn't have the traditional Ninco anglewinder gear noise.
Is it worth the price for a lightning version to compliment the one I have as the round wheels wouldn't be an issue and with my luck I'd get the wrong kind of freak of nature!!! Plus ordering the "lightening" parts to upgrade seems more than the difference in the two versions by quite a bit??
Thanks again for the feedback.

chris/kurt . i had a standard sport audi , and really liked it . prompted the purchase of the lightened (didn`t hurt that the price was "right") . so far the audi is every bit as good as the lightning lambo i have . i had a ford gt lightning (osram) , but moved it as my scuderia is too small to have two of any one car (i have a slot.it ford gt40) . difference is of course wheels and axles/gears now on 3/32nd`s size parts . i priced out the changes to lightning the car . not . least not now . all the parts come to 63 bucks . anyhow i must report that the pair , audi/lambo , are very good podded flat plastic chassis` with round wheels . very surprised at the lightened . the plastic wheels are some of the best i have gottin` on a ninco . would prefer the six spoke models that come on the JGTC cars . never have been a fan of the looks of the "turbo" style .
i still can`t get over how capable the non-mag lightnin` cars are . ninco has hit the proverbial "homer" with this part of their range .
jer
just picked-up a pair of olde dtm cars . nc2 , rear-motor in-line , button-mag . opel and merc . very nice , simple and robust . new but for some crud on the pick-ups . very happy with all but the very doppie lookin` driver .

Chris, I'll be honest, I have a very hard time paying the retail price for the Lightning cars. If you shop around, you can probably find a decent deal. I think 132slotcar has a good deal on Ninco right now. If you get a Lightning version of the R8, your odds of making it run like the others would probably be better.
My feeling is that it's possible to spend a lot more money on the Lightning cars and still not get a car that's much better than the standard version -- because the standard cars can be so good. But getting a discounted Lightning car is definitely worthwhile.
That said, one of our guys has a Lightning R8, and I run my standard R8 against his car pretty often on his wood track. It's no problem to run away from the Lightning car, because this one is so darn good. When we switch cars it's a slightly closer race, because it's easier for him to use the power in the standard car -- a lot less thrashing.
I had been collecting these parts for a while, some gifts and some I found on close out. The wheels are the older Prorace for the larger axle size (2.5mm?). The gears were used so the color isn't obvious, but yes Kurt, they are the 11/33 set. It seems to work great with the higher rpm NC6 motor on my short-ish track (~12ft straight). The NC2, 5 and 14 motors work better with taller 12/32 gearing IMO. I think that is why my Ford (NC14, 20k) is quicker around my track than my Audi (NC12, 23k).
The Lightning cars are geared very high, 13/31, which is too much for my track and why I think the Gallardo can nearly keep up with the pod cars. I do really like the Ninco Lightning pod chassis for non-mag running! They are as quick as my NSR and Slot it cars on my track. I do want to try going to a 12T pinion, which I think will be better for me.
Pete, I hadn't even thought about trying the blue gears with the NC-6, but I bet that would be a good combination. The NC-6 can be a little light on braking sometimes, which the blue gears can improve. The blue gears can hold a car back at the top end, and the NC-6 can help with that. So it sounds like you have a car with a lot of grunt and some decent top end. Nice!
I gotta tell you I love Pete's Lambo, that livery really appeals to me over any of the R8's at this point. So Pete let me know how it runs with the pinion change as I think I'm going to get that lambo before I venture into getting an R8
well , moved the "lightened" audi . now i`ll replace it with , likely the newest audi lightning . thanks to slotnovice . again pete , you have "made my day" .

i have the black and white mercialogo , blankpain . awesome . not as fast as the slot.its i have . or the nsr`s . but the ninco podded cars are truely , great !
