Hey guys, we had some free time after our regular schedule today (Saturday June 2) so we have taken the cars on a shakedown cruise and will be running the qualifying laps. If you happen to see this within an hour of this posting come on over to UStream to watch it live. Otherwise, you can watch the recording at:

I'm watching live and I think the car causing the confusion is the extra car that's not competing. I believe it is a black/white entry.

Guys,

Qualifying results should be uploaded soon.

Marty is one of most experienced members, he raced each car for 1.5 minutes in the center lane.
The entire qualifying, including individual car comments, was recorded and can be viewed here: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/23034562.

We didn't have much time to snap pictures, but here is one:

Race date TBA.
Good luck to all!

Wow, very small range from top to bottom. Thanks to the guys for braving the heat and getting the qualifying done so fast. Looking forward to the race next weekend.

Regards
Rico

G'Day Y'all.....

Suspect Aussie accents aside , I quite enjoyed watching the first 7 or so cars Qualifying....

I was feeling quite good about my #66's Q effort , and then saw that pesky #55 blow it away (again.....)...

So the efforts of the top three or so cars must have been really something.....

Great effort all round, I'd say!

- Sounds like the weather was a pleasant summer's day in Sydney, before it got seriously hot....

Cheers, Tony.

Default Driver Comments

I went through the video replay and compiled the driver comments from qualifying for those of you who might not want to watch the whole thing. In case the image is a bit small to read, I've also included them in the attached PDF file.

Default Car Repairs

Car number 9 needs to have a spot of glue added to the motor and pod to help keep it in place under race conditions.

Slo1Quick, is it OK to make that repair?

Thank you for the excellent coverage including PIP with the timing screen in the video, PDF document with logo. Very nice! What a close field!

I am happy with a strong Q run for cars # 25 & 3....and even more happy to see that 5 out of the 8 top qualifiers are all cars from the Pacific Northwest! I assume these cars were just happy to see some sun and dry out a bit ...but qualifying is for show, racing is for dough!

Being new to slotcar racing this series was my 3rd ever proxy, and I quickly learned that the fast racers come from a few regions:

Smoke'd them and the Bayliners, or is that the Shorewatchers? Eyelynr and the girls from The Empty City, Slotsouth and those guys from gangsta land, not to mention those Down-udder dudes! Almost forgot the Austin racers...(just added them for some good karma..)

Nice to see the wet coast paddlers also having their day in the sun!

(Just kidding, hope no one feels slighted or offended!)

I just realised that I am still the top placed Canadian entry, the top placed ex-South African and the top placed Opel in this series!!! Things are just getting better ALL the time!!

Seems to me that several cars are suffering from lack of maintenance during this long series.
If time permits could you please check the axle stoppers on my Pug, to see if the rear axle is loose in the pod of if it is just the pod movement allowing the gear to touch the chassis. Seems this has been a problem for a few races now!

Hi Phil,
I'm going to put a drop of oil on the bushings and a bit of grease on any dry gears over the next couple of nights. (I won't be oiling any motors, though, as I have no idea how much oil they have already had applied to them.)

Brian

I assume you'll advise which cars seem to have issues before doing said stuff?

The rules set out a procedure for dealing with repairs, after a part fails. The rules do not say that maintenance can/will be performed. The rules do state that things not stated in the rules are disallowed. Seems to me that part of the build/tune strategy for a long series is the idea that you are building it to hold up without assistance. One of the cars in this series had loose items bouncing around inside and nothing was done to change it. It ran that way for several rounds and may (should) still be in that condition.

The only maintenance that was openly discussed was the cleaning of tires, right?
