Default 3 new "R" series Supertires now available

Super Tires is proud to announce three (3) additional Dan O'Grady "R" Series tires featuring rounded outer sidewalls which will replace 3 existing Super Tires. The 1402R, 1403R and 1404R replace the 1402, 1403 and 1404 Super Tires respectively. These popular tires fit many Eurosport-style 15x8, 16.5x8 and 17x8mm wheels from a variety of manufacturers. Initially available in the silicone ("Classic") compound (part #'s 1402RC, 1403RC and 1404RC), they will also be offered in a urethane ("Yellow Dog") compound in the not-too-distant future. Outer diameters (o.d.) on 15x8mm wheels are as follows: 1402R (.748"/19.00mm), 1403R (.777"/19.74mm) and 1404R (.805"/20.45mm). The new tires are available immediately from your favorite Super Tires dealer.

I've had a pair of 1404's for a few weeks and they're 2-3 10th quicker on Mini Grid's Scaley sport track compared to slot.it S2's and C1's on a stock Porsche 956/962.

Question about the sizing though .... is the 1403 RC perhaps the best tire for the following Slot.it's?

Chaparral
Ford GT40
Ferrari 312
Alfa 33

I would say yes to the GT40 and Alfa, I just mounted up a set on both of those cars last weekend. Looks to be a perfect fit, may have to a little profiling on GT40 for fender clearance though, or go to hubless wheels.

So, with multiple sets of each in hand, here's what I found.

1402's
-look small in profile when put on the Slot.it Chappy, Alfa, GT40's and Ferrari 312's stock wheels, but they do fit.
-Might be a good tire for Fly Porsche's running wheels in sizes of 16.5 or 17?

1403's
-do fit the Alfa, and 312's
-might have clearance issues on the Chappy depending on set up. Flush wheels would help.
-don't fit Slot.it GT40's without shaving. (But they will fit if put on with the rounded edge on the inside)
-are great on all stock Porsche Group C cars on stock rear wheels
-work well on the larger wheels of the slot.it Toyota

1404's
-seem to be taller and skinnier than the 1403's
-they do fit easily inside the slot.it GT40 wheel wells (I didn't do an on-track test though)
-Work on all stock Porsche Group C cars on stock rear wheels. Although my times were marginally quicker with these compared to the 1403's, not enough testing was done to really compare the two. I think driver preference will ultimately decide which tire is better for slot.it Group C cars.

John the 1400- 1404 tires are made to fit the Slot.it 15x8mm rims. 1400 is the smallest and 1404 the biggest. I have tested my Slot.it GT40's and Chappie's with 1402-1404 with no fit problems. Right now I am running 15x10mm Slot car Corner rims and ST 1005 tires on my Ford MK2 (Sidewinder) with no fit problems.
I also think that the ST 1402RC will work very well on the Porsche Cup cars at the new RH track.
Congrats on your hosting of the Slot.it Shoot-out Great pic's.
Dan

Thanks Dan, but I think I'll profile mine (too many GT40's to replace wheels on all of them )
