Final Results from Round 11 at Austin Slot Car Club
Hi Guys,
The embedded image is a bit of an eye chart so attached files accompany the image. (PDF and XLS)
Congratulations to podium finishers:
Reek455...Car #22 with 172.06 laps
AJK.........Car #53 with 169.39 laps
redlynr....Car #55 with 166.98 laps
The battle for 3rd was very close. At the end redlynr and BigDSonic were only separated by 2.16 inches (5.5 cm).
We had a few race casualties along the way. TurboMan's car had a motor lead pop out of the guide on two of his heats (7 and 38), Super2nr's car dropped a chassis screw on the track in heat 10, and Elvinator's Merc had a lead wire separate from the motor in heat 13. (Solder joint failed.) Our ace pit crew (Autorama) performed most of the green flag repairs on these cars. Finally, Ronan's car (#6) ate its crown gear just past the half-way point of heat number 49. (PM will be sent regarding repairs.)
The race format was twice-through on standard rotation for a total of 62 heats. Heats were 2:00 minutes, giving each car 12 minutes on the track. (2 minutes x 3 lanes x 2 rotations) We swapped drivers at heat 32 and recorded fractional laps for each car after each full rotation. On our track standard rotation is Yellow/Blue/Green.
Thanks to all the participants for submitting a great field of cars. ASCC really enjoyed hosting Round 11 of the inaugural Slot Car Illustrated Touring Car Championship proxy race. We had a great time running the cars, eating some BBQ and having a few beverages.
Personally, I especially enjoy getting to experience everyone's tuning efforts and the challenge of adjusting my driving style to the different characteristics of the cars. I think the experience improves my driving skills with every car.
I also want to thank all my club mates at the Austin Slot Car Club. They did a great job driving, marshaling, and just generally keeping things moving. That last part is especially important when you're pushing 31 cars through 62 heats!! Again, thanks!
The cars will be off to their next destination this week.
Brian and crew great job getting this round done in a professional and timely manner. Thanks much for bringing my car home first for it's second win of the series. I heard your comment about loving my car but hating my tuning abilities, made me chuckle. Now if I can just hang on for two or is it three more races. Congrats to Tony and redlynr for second and third, I just can't get away from you two, you both have nicely prepared cars that are capable of winning any event.
Yes, Rico, that would be me. I'm also kicking myself for not thinking on Wednesday night as I was in Portland. Next time, I'll reach out to you and Monte the next time I'm up that way.
Thank you Austin for a GREAT event and excellent coverage, you are thoroughly deserving of that F1 Grand Prix coming your way
Some of the highlights for me where:
1) cute baby!
2) great marshaling by the guy wearing the Chaparral t-shirt!
3) excellent video coverage with visible scoring!
4) prompt and detailed results posting!
Thanks Again, and congratulations to all that are pleased with their results and better luck next time to everyone else!
Great effort guys, this is how a proxy round should be run! Cars arrive, tested, qualified and ready to ship out in just over a week fantastic effort. This keeps the interest up with any proxy race.
Congratulations to the front runners, we'll done.
