That sure is a nice livery though I'm not sure I'd pay any extra for it. I'd say it is worth what ever the highest bidder thinks it is. Hopefully for the seller there are several that want one.
As far as I know there where 50 total. There was 25 with 1 set of names and another 25 with a different set of names. This where made for GT Slots to be given as prizes at the Racer Resin National Championship. The racers that are on these cars where winners at different regional or national races at GT Slots in Philly.
I wouldn't pay more for a car because it has a signature and a 1 of however many stamped on the box. Although racers are great machines, why pay more for a car most would be afraid to race for fear of damaging it and decreasing the value.

Reason: because just because
One of the most beautiful cars in my collection.!! Yes, i'd race it for PinkSlips! .. BTW, the one mentioned at the top, i also had bid, but did not win... it's on it's way to So.Africa now! Cost?: if money is an object, you're in the wrong Hobby...

If you ever "raced" a Racer, you might understand why we ARE willing to pay the price. I have quite a few,and they all get raced.

I just said I wouldnt pay more for a car with a signature or limited number than a regular production car. I have no shelf queens. I have raced racers for IROC in our club.
seems two threads of thought- are Racer cars any good?..doh universal agreement, and then are ltd ed worth buying...I tend to like reg issue car to race and accept the battle damage, but where I can keep a few in more pristine shape for infield display..its a luxury I admit, to be the racing is what makes our hobby stand out from model trains

Uhmm, you also said-"Although Racers are great machines, why pay more for a car most would be afraid to race for fear of damaging it and decreasing the value." That's why I said racers that race RACERS understand the extra expense. Racer kits are good cars...but they are not the same as RTR Racers.
$800 for a car, that will probably be bought and put on a shelf and never be raced with other cars like it is meant to be run. How many people would drop that kind of change on a car that are 50 or so know examples of and race it like a regular Racer p68 is all i'm saying. Would anybody here actually race it in a proxy or even in a club setting? I just cant see spending $800 on an although amazing car that would only see shelf time. I personally dont buy cars to sit on a shelf, I dont give a rip about resale value. I have a 917k and gt40 gulf set from fly I race them for Iroc. Personally if I am not going to race it I wont buy it. If i wanted to put something on a shelf i'd buy a static model. And a racer is only about $280 not $800 and for that price I could get a 1/24 euro sport.

Reason: because
If you'll do a little homework, you'll find that $800 is the asking price & it probably won't go; there are several sellers on ebay that list hundreds of items @ a time @ high prices that rarely sell. This is one of those instances. This model has 1 completed listing @$300+; which is probably not unreasonable for this car; whether the winner of the $300 sale chooses to run it or not is unknown.
I wouldn't pay $800 for it if I was hemorrhaging 100-dollar bills. If money was falling from my socks, I would pay $300 for it & I would run it!
There are many people who do buy slot cars for display, just as there are many who run everything they have; I have over 500 cars & probably have less than 15 that I haven't run. If you are afraid to run a Racer because of perceived frailty then so be it, but they do run quite nicely & are more durable than you might expect. If you run magnet cars for blood @ 14v you shouldn't run Racers.

that sums it up nicely!" If you run magnet cars for blood @ 14v you shouldn't run Racers" very well said.
