Default A Classic Battle

Boopiejones forgot to mention that we are running a Fly Classics race tomorrow --in honor of LeMans --although restricting it to Sports Prototypes -- no Can Am --or 906's/Sloters, etc.

So hopefully we'll see

Porsche 917K
Ferrari 512S
Ferrari 512 CL
Lola T-70
Porsche 908/2
Porsche 908/3

No 917 LHs that I know of. Stock motors, no mags and all running same brand (flagg?) trued tyres.

Weight open, gears open --can be loose and oh, yes, front axles allowed. I'll try to post results and maybe some photos!!! Lastly -- it's at Boppie's beautiful wood 3-laner---!! Can't wait!

Hey...
That list ain't right.
The only Sports Prototypes on your list are the Porsche 908s.
The rest all ran as Gp.4. That's Group 4 as it was circa '68 - '71.

Default Group 4 Cars

Sorry-- yes, of course they are Group 4 cars (as per the FIA) but they are all "Sports Prototypes" by definition. Sports Prototypes began with the early 1960's one-offs (i.e. Ferrari 330 TRi) and while you can put a cut-off point at 1971 with the demise of the 917's and 512's, there are many who continue to include the previous pre-group 4 cars (Porsche 907, 910, 908) as they went thru their 'second life' with the open Spyder cars (Group 6). Some people even consider Group C cars to be 'Sports Prototypes' (and one of them is me....) but if we were running to the FIA rules, we are only running Group 4 cars tomorrow--
