Default 1/24?

Hi Jon

Just wondering if your Tire Razor works with the 1/8" axles on 1/24 cars etc. as well as the 3/32" 1/32 scale axles and wheels.

If it doesn't do you have any plans to build one or can you recommend a machine that can?

Cheers
David

Hi David

Yes the Tire Razor will true 1\24 or 1\32 but you will need the Kit
The Kit is a bigger slotted pulley that will fit on .125 axles and a thinner sanding block its 15.00

I have done the biggest Carrera 1\24 and HR foamys plus the biggest tire Paul Gage sells

Hope this helps, Jon

Hey Jon,

Shoot me a PM when you get a chance. I'd like the kit but want to make sure it will fit my application.

Thanks Jon. I need to get an adjustable power supply next, but after that a Tire Razor with this Kit might be next on my list. I have two H&R HR-03 chassis with the stepped wheels and rubber tyres, one with the big wheels all round, the other with the smaller wheels front and back. This Kit should work for those, right?

I think I probably really need the Tire Razor for truing the Super Tires that I have to use on my friend's silicone only track; those are hopeless for truing.

I wonder also: could the Tire Razor be adapted to run the 3/32 axle on a Foredom SR flex shaft H.30 jacobs chuck handpiece? I have one of those and it runs with a foot pedal, from 0-18,000 RPM, fully variable (down to 500RPM realistically). This could be a much simpler set up for those of us who have one of those, but it would only work with wheels attached with grub screws to a 3/32" drill blank or axle. Here's a link to a video about the Foredom with drill press attachment, so you can see how the H.30 is mounted to it: http://www.foredom.net/pdp30drillpress.aspx

The SR also goes in reverse, and they have way more torque than any slot car motor running at the same speed. A slot car motor, by comparison, has the torque of a Tamiya Handy Router. One would need to be careful not to press down too hard, as the SR would let you do that, while a slot car motor would just stall under the same load. Maybe it's possible to create an attachment similar to the lathe attachment? If this could be combined with the lathe that would be killer.

Of course one need not design it to run only on a Foredom. One of those Harbor Freight knockoffs would use the same handpiece and be considerably cheaper.

those tires on the back of my truck are the biggest I have seen and they true on the Razor with the 1\24 kit
I have seen your builds and read your thread about tuning H&R chassis in the aussie site what I did was make a truing axle for my H&R its just an 1\8 piano wire with old carrera bushings I reamed to 1\8 and added a pulley to it, now all I have to do is put my tires on it and not tear down the axle set up

I use drill driver motors to power the Razor, lots of torque

I have seen a few truers made from die grinders and moto tools, and have a few new Ideas for stuff I want to add to the Razor, one is a dial indicator for the drag racers and I have a new chassis jig I am building and some other stuff
thanks for watching
Jon

Hi Jon, I'd like to order a Tire Razor with the 1/24 kit - how much will it cost ($US) to send that to me in Australia, and do you have a rough idea on the likely wait time before you can ship? (I ordered an adjustable power supply from a Sydney supplier tonight, so I should be all set by the time you are ready to ship).

Sounds good Jon, I'll send you the email I use for paypal in a PM (I suppose that's how you provide an invoice?).

Wow, a few purchases today ... power supply, a compressor, the tire razor and I've got a bid in on a second airbrush (an Iwata for fine work)! I'd better start saving some cash now that my tool kit is getting close to complete

EDIT: actually I'll try an email first. If you don't get that please send me a PM

Hi Jon

If you sent an email it might have been blocked by the spam filter at pobox.com. I can send the $185 to your email via Paypal if you like.

Yeah I already have a Paasche H for priming, base coats, clear coats, that kind of thing, this Iwata Eclipse would only be used for fine work, hence I only want the smaller B cup rather than the big C that blocks your view as you look down the brush

Thanks Jon

I don't see anything in my paypal account, email, or spam filter as yet. I'll check again when I get up. It's 1.30am here, way past bedtime ...

EDIT: Never mind, all sorted now. That email system can be tricky!

Thanks Jon

I won that auction for the Iwata Eclipse HP-BS too. $128 new in box (delivered) is not bad. I do think though that the seller might have bid it up a couple of bucks ... I placed a min bid and then someone else did, just enough to push the price over the $100 mark ... the second bidder had a suspiciously low feedback rating (4) ...
