Emilia Romagna is the Italian Motor Valley: here, the same thoroughbred genes that link the likes of Ferrari, Maserati, Dallara, Ducati, Lamborghini are passed down to the small scale 1:32 models made by Slot.it.
In 2002, Slot.it, the company from Reggio Emilia already well known for its precise racing parts and universal chassis, issued its first complete model car, a reproduction of the Audi R8C, a prototype which raced in Le Mans in 1999.
Historians dub the R8C by Slot.it as the model that marked a before and after in slot racing.
Since its debut with a stunning 1-2-3 at the 24 hours of S.Celoni, through various revisions of chassis and bodywork that kept it up to the latest technology, this model has been at the forefront of slot car racing for 10 years. We at Slot.it have chosen to reissue this special model, from the original chassis and bodywork moulds of the first Audi R8C series, to celebrate the decennial of this historic racer.
I am truly sorry to see this change happen. I was looking forward to the release of the Audi R8C in the orange and black livery.
Since it only has orange mirrors, an orange band at the top of the windscreen and "Infineon" replaced by "Slot. It" on the hood, I think I will pass on this one.
Too similar to the #10 Audi R8C I already own.
However my Audi continues to be one of my fastest Slot.It Modern Le Mans category cars.
Hmmm as a 'Collector's Edition' car, I think it looks pretty cool - truer to the original, as it were. Plus, as a race car on a track, more credible, for the same reason; there never was an 'orange Audi' so far as I know.
I've got my other Audi to keep safe on the shelf and it's plenty orange.
I guess the proposed livery was banned by the Audi management. The same happened to NSR with their four different colored Audi R18's from which only the silver one made it to the shops.
No problem for me since I still own two white body kits from the original Audi including the strep2/step3 chassis so I can always make one myself
Is it just me, or is the silver/black version done on the reloaded body? I know its a prototype and the final version should be from the correct molds, but it just makes me kinda' wonder.

The 'reloaded' version was basically an update to the race cars that were done with the original R8C mold. The race cars were painted black along the side of the car, but the topside of the car was all silver. This car has the entire fenders in black.
I'm in too deep with the R8Cs, so I'll probably get this one, too. Would have been nice to see the black and orange, though. I wonder how Audi would have felt if they did silver and orange with black trim...

What I was attempting to get at is that the orange and black prototype is clearly one of the original molds, whereas the black and silver prototype is clearly the updated later body mold which is to say it is not the original mold which the final product will undoubtedly be cast correctly in...and it just struck me (mojo joe lister) as somewhat unusual in that the whole point to this anniversary edition was going to be the use of the original molds and not just another Audi R8C in a sea of pretty little Audi R8Cs.

Oh, I see, thanks for clearing that up. I guess we'll know for sure when the car comes out, but I do hope it's the original mold as the ad says.
I wonder if Slot.it had to go with a prototypical paint scheme to satisfy the terms of their licensing agreement with Audi? The only Audi done in a fantasy livery that I've seen is the SCX R8 done in honour of Slot.it. Large companies are generally very protective of their brand so this would not surprise me.
