It was a wild ride at Little Roads on Thursday night. Four intrepid drivers battled their way around the track ignoring the heat, the humidity and the roadkill. Yes, the roadkill. I apologize for any cars that have bug splatter on them, but it was kind of funny to see them get smacked as the cars came by. The invasion of beetles (no, not Austin’s car) caused a wicked pile up when one landed on the track. When the lead car struck the tortoise sized bug (1/32 scale) it went airborne, taking out the next three as it landed.
We had enough to race 4 lanes with a marshal at one end. I raced, helped run the computer, and helped marshal the other end of the track. Thanks go to Rich, Michael, Jonathan, my wife Faith and especially Mary who kept track of my car along with her own and shared the marshaling duties. The cars performed well and all the drivers commented on how much fun it was to drive them—really appreciated the opportunity to take part.
We ran the cars as they came to us—I didn’t attempt to glue any parts back on. Unfortunately a few more parts came loose by the end of the evening. I sent those along with the cars they belong to.
Thanks for the opportunity to run the cars—it was wicked awesome! A picture collage of the event is in production (thanks Faith!)
Looks like I just have a 5th place car. Thanks to all who made this event possible. Congratulations to all the top three finishers. Now to build a better mouse trap for next season.
George,
Thank you for hosting the race. Thanks to the drivers for a great finish. Contrats. to the contestants.
Hope to see some pics of the bug attack!
Almost forgot,
Thanks to Dickie for organizing a fun and successful toy car competition!
I was planning on taking the year off from proxy racin', but this one is so fun, I will have to do it again.
Say WHAT! First proxy win ever!
Thanks for the great run George & co (especially whoever was piloting in Lane 1 - the Lancia not only topped U class but outdistanced all the O cars in that lane except Redlynr's Camaro =:-o). Congrats to Austin for gettin' 2nd (view's great from up here eh?) and nhdungeonracer for 3rd and taking the U class series win. Congrats to all the other class podiumites, series winners and all participants - well done.
Finally a big thank you to Dickie for organizing this series . It was great fun for both entrants and hosts - really looking forward to putting together another tall, skinny, underpowered tipwaon for next years races
