Default What a series

Congratulations to all. It is amazing to see how consistent the top 3 cars have been throughout the series.. will there be a proxy series 'turn everything upside down' race at the end? I don't think so.

Ken, you should seriously think about getting out the X acto knife and Dremel and converting your great P48 into a 1961 P48/57 for the VRAA! I know it goes against your tradition of retiring and preserving your proxy cars once they complete a series. But come on, man....

From this:

To this:

And the latter one is VRAA legal.. the second picture is from the 1961 British GP. Speaking of which, Alonso is now leading at Silverstone as I type this.

I have a strong hunch we're going to see those Brabham chassis and motors, (perhaps under new shells?) this fall in America.

Good luck to everyone. But.. a shout out to my buddies from the mid west...

Mark

X acto knife.... no dont do it Ken... Sounds like a good excuse to build another car though Ken.

Think we need to work on a new chassis if we want to be competitive next VRAA Mark ! Maybe a new motor too... Im not going to mention that both our solarbotics has lasted 13 hell bent proxies so far....not bad for an unreliable motor !

Gee Mark, well um. . . . NO don't think so. All my GP proxy cars get retired to the test paddock as they finished the race season. There is no freshening up or anything other than a good cleaning, sometimes. One car did get it's tires replaced since the originals turned orange and rotted off the wheels.
Each car has run it's race and they are used to test new chassis designs and finished cars against. I do have the spare P48 body that I could do the mods on though but I am looking at building the Barefoot Counts Porsche(we share the same birthday), a Ferguson or a a Lotus 25 For the VRAA this year.

Well fellas, I just hope the Solarbotics motor I have in my VRAA entry is half as reliable as the pair that have powered your Brabhams.

Ken, I know you will preserve the P48 in all its pristine glory, and I'd be sad if you didn't. Now, I wonder if I should have a chat with Dave Jones about casting the 1961 BRM-Climax?

By the way, my vote is for the Ferguson as your 2012/3 VRAA car.

So, Mark Webber in a Red Bull-Renault wins the British GP. Well, at least the Renault bit has a car name, albeit French. Arrrgh, I hate advertising on cars! Or worse, cars named for consumer products!

I have not given up hope, but the 158 has too much ground to make up in one race. Baring a catastrophe for the top two, third place looks to be it.
