some of you know who i am , and some don`t . thats not why i decided to post tonight . d a m n i t . when your dr. tells you somethin` , by god , listen . we just almost lost another guy to a stroke . by jimminie , not that scandanavian , but . please guys , even though i haven`t shook hands or looked many of you in the face . be healthy , guys . i need every one of you . there isn`t any slot people here (where i live) . only on line . porsecheman , get better . keep your head up and persevere ! thinkin` of you . . . . . . . sometimes we (all of us) take way to much for granted !
HEALTH is everything! Makes it possible for us to do some of the things we love like slot racing. My family is very important to me and I want to be around when my kids starts their own families. So going to the gym and watching my diet is not an option --- it is a MUST DO!
a good friend had a heart attack a few years ago, the first time I spoke with him after his by-pass surgery I asked how he was doing, he replied : " I'm on the right side of the grass " - I will never forget that comment
Jer,
Thank you, one day at a time. I'm walking with a cane and getting around OK, my speech is a little off but that goes perfect with my typing. I"ll be back to my track as soon as I can.
Thank you all for your well wishes, you guys always give me a laugh and always some good reading to keep my mind going strong.
Thank you again.

Hey, a comrade in recovery! I blew a disk in my back 10 days ago, compressing a major spinal nerve. :/ Some day I will get a full night of sleep again...someday... Get well soon!
Glad you are on the road to recovery
I'll say at least one prayer for ya
Pretty cool how different things become important as we get more...."mature??"
I'm sure there is not a person in this group that would not have taken better care of themselves if they ever thought they would live to be this old!
From what I've experienced, getting old is NOT for wimps, sissies or whiners. We are simply dealing with more and more each and every year. There are those that simply don't let it stop them and others that use it more or less as an excuse.
The sight in my right eye was lost over 2 years ago. It is something I've had to adapt to. Trust me when I say I have finally figured out how to solder once again without removing all the hair and skin from either of my hands. Try closing an eye one day and see how close you can come to putting a hot soldering iron right where you want it without any depth perception.
Aside from having to relearn how to slot race and figuring out that motorcycle riding is something I won't ever do again, along with watching and getting anything out of 3D, I try not to let it bother me or stop me from doing the things I enjoy.
What really bothers me is that we don't have the new folks coming into this hobby to keep it going. What's up with that?
Jer,

Wow, I'm glad you're still with us. This sounds like the scare of a lifetime, but it looks like you still have your sense of humor. I hope you have a speedy recovery, Porscheman -- wishing you all the best.
At 50yrs old with two boys who are 6 and 7 yrs old makes me very aware that I may miss some very big milestones in my kids' lives - some people have thought I was a grandpa! - My dad is staring cancer in the face now that he is going through chemo and he's "only" 75. My grandmother lived to 95 and my greatgrandmother lived to 103 but my grandfather only made it to 56. Live life grateful!
All of this just shows how important affordable health care is as one gets older. Especially when health care has been lost due to changes in the work environment.
It's very scary but I have now lived longer than my father... (I am 47).
My doctor used to tell me that my blood pressure, cholesterol etc. was "a little on the high side"... I have lost 30lbs so far and now they are inside the "normal" region.
So hopefully I am going to continue for a bit longer!

Al.....
What the heck..Unless I missed something this is the first I've seen of this. I'm so glad you're OK.
I agree with Jerry, I may not have met most of you but I sure have read your posts and recognize the names. Most of us are getting older and we gotta take care of ourselves.
Dave
I understand what you are saying , I myself just spent 14 days in the hospital with congestive heart failure and kidney failure , we wasn't sure I was gonna gonna pull out of this time but by the Good Lord I did , Take care of yourselves guys lets no become a dyeing breed . My prayers to all that are ill God be with you .
Glad to hear you're on the mend! Keep taking it slow and steady, and we'll all keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
I'm one of the newbies here, so we've not met, but it seems that I'm about in the general age group. A year ago, I was also on the mend following surgery, but by the good graces of the Big Guy, I enjoyed a speedy recovery. Came away with a new appreciation of the gift of life and how precious family and friends can be.
