the track in Chuck's garage gets assembled for the summer months only, in the fall it comes apart and goes back in the rafters of the garage - it's also not the full track set up, he modified it and shortened it so the garage door would close - not sure of the total footage of the layout, I do know it was originally manufactured in the USA and was operated with " steering wheels " instead of controllers, these tracks were usually found at fairs or arcade centres
if you look behind the track you can see the original track piece up against the wall :
it adds several more feet to the layout - the really cool thing about this track, most of us " middle age " folks raced on this track when we were teenagers ( over 30 years ago ) when it was set up in a guy's basement, it was part of a 1/32 series we participated in back in the 1970's - some very fond memories
after a very long five month break from Brant's Hatch Hardbody racing we made the return to the wood last night ! Brant is doing just fine after giving us all a big scare a few months ago, looking good and very happy to be racing again ( * so happy he almost took the first event, lost by segments ! great job )
many members have been hard at work building during our break, here's a scratch-built beauty from Chuck Ingram :
and a new Modified for Peter built by his dad Victor :
and my new ride, Chucks' purple Modified, complete with working steering :
