Default Any Carrera Digital Members/Racers in the area?

Hello;

Thanks to Mr Flippant for finding me and inviting me to join the group. From the videos and posts it looks like the majority of the races use Scalextric Digital, and some slot.it stuff. I only have Carrera, Pro-x and D132. Is there anyone else interested in racing with these cars? Also, is there a way to make a Carrera car compatible with the system used in your races?

Welcome, Carlos!

You would be the first member of DRAWW with a Carrera digital track, but please don't let that discourage you. We are supportive of ALL digital slot racing, and would LOVE to come to your track and race some cars around with you! I have a Carrera D132 car (which I currently leave in analog mode) that's itching to get some lane changing track time in. ;-) I also have a D132 chip someone else gave me, not knowing it wasn't compatible with my system, which I could put into another car quite easily.

Yes, it would be easy for you to chip a Carrera car for SSD . SSD chips are small, and easy to install. I have several Carrera cars which I've chipped for SSD . But, don't for a second think that you need to chip your own car(s) to come to one of our races. Most of us have spare cars that we'd be happy to loan you, and we also partake in a bit of IROC fun before and/or after our series race. If you wanted to have your own car for a series race, there are plenty to choose from at reasonable prices online, as we're currently running Scalextric crash resistant GT cars. We could even loan you a chip if you're not sure you want to get one of your own just yet.

The important thing is that with DRAWW, it really doesn't matter which system you're running. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy some digital racing at any of our races, and we would love to come and race on a new system if anyone else would like to host an event, even if it's not part of a particular series.

Thanks for checking in, Carlos! We'll be announcing the next race night shortly, and I hope you can come!

Thanks!
-Greg

Thanks Greg;

I see that you are really active on this forum, and I believe another one as well. You have some cool race videos posted, my son and I have watched them several times. Please let me know and I'll get some stuff together to come race. I only have a couple Scalextric cars, one is the Parnelli Jones Mustang; won;t be racing that on Digital. And the other is a rally car, but it is front wheel drive so that might not be within the specs. I'll find something else to run...Just looking forward to having some fun.

Please shoot me a PM or email when your next race is announced.

Thanks a bunch!!

I'll definitely make sure you know about our next race.
As for cars, bring anything you like to just run around for fun. For the IROC race, cars are provided anyway, and for the series race you can either borrow an appropriate car, just watch, or hang around until we're done and play some more. Don't worry about messing up someone else's car, though. We wouldn't loan them if we were worried about them. ;-)
But, if you want an excuse to buy a car (which we rarely need, eh? ;-) then pick up any Scalextric crash resistant race livery GT car. There are PLENTY out there, and several new ones since we started our series as well. We can loan you a chip, or you can snag one of those, too. Then we'll get it fixed up with the appropriate magnet setup and sand the tires, then you'll be ready to rock and roll.

Hey, Bryan! DRAWW has no races scheduled for the time being, since summer seems a busy time for many, but that doesn't mean one won't happen anyway. Keep an eye on the forum for a race announcement so you don't miss any opportunities. One good way is to subscribe to the DRAWW forum itself, that way you get email notifications of new threads and posts.

Of course, if/when you get your track up, let us know if you'd like some of us to come up and give it a good shakedown. We're always up for digital racing of any kind. Like I told Carlos, I've got a couple D132 cars that could use some D132 track time, and I don't need much of an excuse to get a new one, either. ;-)

Hi Greg I haven't forgotten but you are right, summer is busy for everyone, but I do look forward to joining you guys this fall and I have some analog Scalextric cars and I want to know which ones I should convert to digital so we can run together. So let's talk and type soon,
thanks Carlos

Hi Bryan,
thanks for reaching out I am always all over the Sound so if you're in the south end let me know, and I'll look PM you before I come up north and see if we can get together and race some cars sometime. I'm especially interested in so doing some D124 I don't know anyone else in the area who does.

Thanks,
Carlos

We haven't really talked a lot about what our next series car might be. One idea was to run the Pioneer Mustangs again, but allow some tuning such as new gears and wheels for a smoother, quieter ride, just keep the motor and same gear ratio.

Are any of your Scaley cars DPR ? You can tell easily by seeing if there's a rectangular hatch on the chassis just behind the front axle. If there is, then those cars are easy to temporarily chip. You could buy or borrow just one chip to swap between them. Cars without the DPR hatch can be chipped, but require a retro-fit chip to be soldered in. That's still reversible, just not as easily done as DPR .

We'll probably talk more about the next series the next time we meet, so hopefully you can come. If the majority like one of the cars you have (and your vote counts!), then that's what we'll run next. Check out the intro thread for links to the "rules" (such as they are) and other helpful stuff.

As soon as someone hosts a race, we'll post it here so that everyone will know.

Wow! Nice haul, Bryan! That should make for a pretty sweet set up!

I don't suppose you're free Friday night? We're having some fun over at Paul's in Redmond. It's all IROC , so you don't even need to worry about having a series car. We'll be playing with some Scalextric Minis and whatever else people bring. Check out the race announcement for details, or PM me for the address if you think you can come.

Ah, that sucks. Hopefully you can get the shift change.
Keep us updated on your track build. I've never raced digital 1/24 cars, but I've heard and it looks like a lot of fun!

They are fun. I've noticed on the Porsche GT3 that the mags are strong. I might pull them and run magless. Does take a little more throttle control

Definitely give it a try. Most cars I get end up with no magnets sooner or later.
