Default New BRM Sneak Attack !

NO !

No ! NO NO !

I have done all I planned to do for these "BRM" (British Racing Motors ? ) cars ...

I mean, I got seduced by "pretty", and succumbed (3 times!) to these goofy but very pretty cars.

"Goofy" ? Well , although not an "expert", I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that BRM does "pretty" very well ... But that they could learn a thing or two about slot car chassis "engineering" from the Slot.it and NSR guys (or just make bodies, and put them on Scaleauto chassis ?)

Hey, not saying they run bad (at all). But at a $169 price point ??? Perhaps a little more "tech" is in order.

So with all that in mind, I was ready to become "Roger Penske" / Reinhold Joest and start building my own 1/24 Group C cars (Tamiya/ Hasegawa kits, on the Scaleauto MSC chassis.)

Merging "pretty" and techie on my own...

But then I hear this dastardly plan do do 917' s ????!!!!

NOOOOOOOOO !

You mean I'll have to buy more of these pretty and goofy cars ??? (O Ring Chassis ????)

Someone save me from myself !!!

Maybe , they'll get NSR to "sand" the bodies for them ... Then I'll be ok ...

Well, Its waay worse than I thought !

These BRM guys, are clearly involved in a plot to wreck our bank accounts, upset our balance of trade with their home galaxy (Ferrariland) , and just mess with our slot budgets entirely !!!

In a attempt to scoop up more intel on this insidious 917 plot ... ( Durn thing is as curvy as Sofia Vergara!) I ventured through the wormhole, to the Delta Quadrant, and stumbled on what has to be the BRM "Manhattan Project ". An ee-vil plan to nuke our wallets back to the stone age !!!

Lurking in the shadows, using this 917 action as a diversion... Is something they call "the Gold Series" . A 25 megaton. MIRVED warhead consisting of a "Honey I shrunk the kids" to 1/24 scale McLaren F1 GTR in Marbunkle livery !!!!

And it's clear to me that they have hacked my earlier transmissions ... as they have integrated "Techie with Sexy !!!

It looks like the NSR guys designed the chassis !!! An alumium, serious looking, angle winder chassis with a floating motor pod, for maxium effect and target destruction !!!

This just is not right !!!

With stuff like this, we will never be able to stop this deadly acquisition cycle !!!

Debt, debt and more debt !!!

Somebody call Kofi Annan !

Its gotta be aganist international law !!!!

and I'm sure, based on what I've seen so far...It will take pleny "gold" to sate this gotta have it attack ...

Arrrrgh !!!!!

Default Waiting for the project to be completed.

Yes there is a McLaren, and yes it "MIGHT" have a metal chassis.

Only thing completely resolved with this project is that the body is Resin not injected plastic. it will be produced in very small numbers, and may not have a sister car to run against.

The 917 how ever is a plastic chassis'd car like the previous BRM cars.

Combines the angle-winder configuration with the simple 962/88C design ( no pod )

And it is quick, quicker than a Toyota here, almost as quick as a Scaleauto without any tuning at all yet.

More will appear on the Front Page of SCI and of course at the 6th Annual National Final for BRM in New Jersey Sept 7th - 9th. Some see the 917 in the flesh so to speak.

See you at the Races.

Are there plans for the 917 to have a 'sister car' to run against sometime soon after it's planned release, since it's not a Group C car?

Thanks.

Default For right now other 917's

As there were a lot of 917 Porsche run back in the day, for now the plan is to release several of those.

I have mentioned to BRM that at least 2 decorations would be good to start, followed not to long after by at least 2 more. Hopefully getting to 8 so we can fill a Commercial Track fairly quickly. Now of course if this class takes off I am sure BRM will re-invest the money into another contemporary car from that era.

Sadly the most popular one may be difficult to do right now. But a Lola could be good, so could a GT 40.

If this class takes off I could see there being at least as many cars and decorations as the Group C Class which has at least 17 decorations available right now.

More soon.

I assume like other BRM releases that there will be an undecorated body available?

Default Of course BRM will release white body kits.

Good question and I fully expect BRM to release white body kits but not at first. First they usually release at least 3 or 4 decorated cars, then comes the white body kits.

OK...

So we will wind up with 917's that are a tad faster than our 962's (due to chassis advances?)...Not quite "prototypically correct" (?) ... But they will be so sexy we will be unable to resist !

BUT ... Mr Alan ...Tell us more about "THE GOLD SERIES" . From what I saw in the other galaxy (can't provide the wormhole link , as it's aganist Forum rules). That will be some serious biz !

Mygoodness ! What's the boogie on that F1 McLaren dealio ? Sexy & Techie ???

Will we get the " F1 K's " (short tail) that we have been waiting on Slot.it to do ? (in a mite bit bigger format ?)

Default I like to post what can actually be sold.

I have had photo's of the McLaren for over a year, but as this is one body with 2 decorations, and no finalised chassis I do not want to build hope on a very long off project.
It will be made but maybe only one car, and high prices.

I will post pictures later today.

Regarding the 917 you want to slow it down Run rubber tires, it will be slower, run the red motor it will be slower.

The point I was making is even though it is smaller than a 962 or Toyota it is fast here, it is not normal to go backwards performance wise when building a new Slot Car.
We would never run 917's against Group C but of course people can run F1 against Monster Trucks if they like.

Me I am "Scaleracing" so I stick to Classes. That said I hope BRM can quickly get out at least 4 decorations of this car, then who knows what comes next.

Well of course I do but that is

Well ...

When I'm "BRM" running (running Pretty) ...I DO run the rubber tires !

They are mounted on the super sexy BBS Gold wheels ,and have the cool markings (Goodyear / Eagle) on the sidewall !!!

Yea , I bought some of the "foamer" tires ... Wheels not BBS ... and doesn't say "Goodyear" on the side wall.

A "propriator" guy was givin me a hard time, about reading the sidewall markings while the the wheels are turning a bizillion RPM... But I reminded him... That our sexy scale slot cars ... Spend 90% of their lives ... stationary !

Hey... On the serious tip ... It would be cool if someone made a foam tire, with a sidewall that would support tire markings to preserve the sexy /scale thing... and provide the grip.

Back in the day ... It was SILICONE on wood tracks... They were clean, and sticky.

This foam stuff with goo ? My goodness !!!

Sorry the Gold Series, will not be a normal production thing. Might approach the cost of a 1/48 scale brass locomotive ... But it would be sexy ! (and about as close I'd ever get to a real one !

P.S. Now I get it !

This 917 thing ... Is just an ee-vil plot to make all 962 runners ... hook up the Black Motor !!! (while the 917 runs red ...)

Default On rubber tires the 917 is slower than a 962 here.

Good news en Bill?

Regarding sponge tires we NEVER use glue these tires are designed to work on Plastic Tracks as well as wood without glue.

The soft compounds work fantastic on Carrera and Sport the hard on NINCO. All work on wooden tracks for those who run on wood.

Regarding the McLaren I never thought about it that way, make cars that few can afford, but I agree there is a Market for everything. I guess my concern is I am trying to grow the user Market those who want to race their BRM cars.

The static market is just that, and fairly well covered by other Manufacturers BRM are building miniature Racing Cars, not too complicated, very equal ( by class ) and fun to run.

Hope to see you at the National Final in New Jersey, come run your BRM car, it's why they made them.

OK McLaren photo's coming soon....................in minutes!!!
