Hey Barn!
This year's trucks are basically last year's trucks. I had made some super secret, super trick trucks but they were a tick slower than last year's so.... I fixed the Buggy (your repair only survived two laps with my six year old driving, doh!) with a B-NOVA repair kit and changed the guide on the MAN to take out all the slop it had. The MAN was much better after the repairs, and the Buggy was about a tenth faster. Both trucks got new shoes as well...
I need to look up Ary's gear ratio... his truck is fast, the weight gets in the way sometimes but did I say it was fast??!!
Over a nautical mile!!!!! Long way for an elephant to run!
Hey there truck fans! The race was run with Dave pulling duty in the green lane and me in the red lane. Trackmate allows the cars to coast so fast laps don't mean a thing...if we heard a truck crashing we'd punch it and it was AMAZING how far these things can coast! We would scream out "CHEATER" if the other got a fast lap after a track call. Yes, we were having fun!
The trucks are harder to race I think than cars, you can live and die by your braking points. And, passing is a PITA on Scaley track even with most of the trucks being pretty tidy.
There was one major issue with the Merc of Hotslots. Ary had contacted me to see if I had a 23T crown and neither Dave or I did. So, we thought it'd be best to run the truck and hope the gear would last. It didn't. Dave had it first and it made it through, making a lot of noise but it got to the finish. When I got it started to have some "issues" with the crown. I tried to baby it but with 1:34 left it came to a halt. Since in hindsight the gear should've been changed I replaced it with a 24T Slot.it crown I had on hand with the clock stopped. Now, to get to the crown I found out that the front two screws were different, one was only about an eighth of an inch long and the other had a striped head. So, after I got that one out I replaced the gear and put two SCC body screws in the front. I set the gear mesh and it was VERY quiet and smooth. No more super loose and spinning around 180 degrees. I figure I made up the lost time I spent babying it with the new gear. If anyone has complaints I'll take full responsibility for my actions.
So, here are the results by class and overall. Way to go to Ary! To get beaten by 10 3/4 inches after a nautical mile plus was heartbreaking!
Dave and I had a blast and want to thank all the owners and Ary for a wonderful bunch of trucks and Proxy.
Barn,
Your truck didn't like the esses in the green lane. Most of the trucks with some to a lot of body float get a pendulum effect going and can't recover in the esses. The trucks with little to no float and stiff chassis can stay flat in the esses and the evil varying radius turns here at Route 66.
The elephants were let loose on the skid pad and here are the results!
Trucks were run in the outside lane for 25 laps CCW then CW, best times recorded and also listed in "G".
Trucks with vertical front axle play or flexible chassis seem to give up a fair amount to others on the skid pad.
Looks like the Proxy season is finished for another year here at Route 66 Raceway. Time to get the R&D shop open and get some trucks and cars ready for next year.

Paul, thank you for the taking the time to run the trucks on your skid pad.
I will alert Hot Slots that the trucks are on the way.
