I guess that it is no secret that I enjoy hard body racing mostly for the realism and detail that they provide. I love many of the AFX bodies and all the new Tomy AFX bodies. I also enjoy lexan bodies when they are painted with high detail. I especially enjoy them on slower type cars like the older AFX, Brass Cars and the new brass cars such as G-jets. The slower cars allow the lexan bodies to last quite a long time before you need to dispose of them.
I can stll remember selling my original G-jet lexan body three years after I first put it on the car for racing. It still looked new.
I understand why Wizzard went to a hard body and why they chose the Storm design. It makes sense to eliminate the lexan painted body which costs a lot more to produce than the molded hard body. The hard body allows the storm to be sold with body at a reasonable cost and that makes sense.
I'm guessing and only guessing that the Storm style body will not go over real well with hard body enthusiasts. It will probably not go over well with lexan body enthusiast. It may fall some where in the middle. I'm guessing it will do well in IROC which has become more and more popular the past several years.
I think that the big news is not the hard body but instead that Wizzard has entered the CM magnet class that for many years they indicated that they would not get involved in. We presently do not know what the gauss reading are with the magnets so we don't know if the car will fit into the ceramic class or the polymer modified class. I'm hoping that Wizzard creates magnets that will fit into both the ceramic class and the poly modified class.

Huh???? I got to know, why would you do that to a hardbody thats made for the chassis...
Sometimes the body comes off the chassis when it crashes. Could be a real bummer during a competitive race. Maybe put a couple lexan mounting pins thru the side to keep things together

My experience is they handle the turns better at a higher speed with a covering over the front wheels (piece of scotch tape) than they do without. See pictures on post #1.
Regarding the Wizzard bodies (remember them?), kudos to the Wizzard for going to the trouble to produce his chassis, bodies, and parts (I use some of them...).
And the new injection molded bodies were a significant investment, and you have to respect that.
Hopefully now that they know what it takes to produce them, similar alternatives will follow, such as a "wizzard-ized" GT-40, Lola T70 Mk IIIB, etc. I think they could find significant return-on-investment results for also producing alternatives to the current model.
What started out as a discussion about Wizzard bodies (both hard and Lexan) has become a discussion on magnet strength & measurement. Both are interesting, and should stand on their own. For the benefit of those who are new to the Forum, can the administrator separate these into two distinct posts under their own titles? It would make more sense......

I second that. This thread is so far from the original post

Hoppy - I appreciate the sentiment. However, I have a couple issues with your suggestion:
The hard body was released with the new mags, so the development of the thread was kind of natural.
As the person who would probably have to spend an afternoon or evening splitting the thread, that's 130+ posts to consider and then move (or not move) and some posts which mention both, or don't consider either.
Plus, I think a lot of the threads on the HO forum only make sense in their entirety.
