[quote=fl_slotter;660231]Add a road course to "The Chase"?

I can just see Mike Helton's face when someone proposes that to him. It will more than likely go over like a severe case of flatulence on a nuclear submarine!

F1
A bit of a mixed metaphor here. Nuclear submarines have excellent climate control through air conditioning to match and exceed many civilian applications.
On the other hand were we talking about a conventional diesel submarine then I would get it and then some.
I have fond memories of the diesel world. The captain and the leading chef would get together to have a relatively high pressure in the boat whilst mixing and before cooking the bacon and egg pie, (quiche to to the la-di-dahs). Then the boat would go to periscope depth and snort(charge batteries) at a lower pressure level. The air bubbles beaten into the B&E pie thus expand more in the relatively lower air pressure during the charge, leading to a lovely light and fluffy pie.

ps wanted to get away from flatulence as we brits are accused, sometimes of too much toilet humour.

pps why let the the truth ruin a good metaphor!

You know, you just don't find these nuggets of useful information on those other slot car sites.

As a circle track purist, i am one of the converts you talk about. I would love to see a half dozen road courses for the season. And if you see 6 in a season, add 2 to the chase.

Gordon criticizes lack of caution
http://www.racer.com/gordon-criticiz...rticle/254323/

Jeff Gordon criticized NASCAR officials for not waving yellow flags in the closing laps at Watkins Glen after oil was spilled on the track.

The slippery surface of the last two laps set up a spectacular finish at the front of the field but Gordon was among those caught out in the tricky conditions, spinning at the final turn while racing Matt Kenseth for eighth place.

The four-time champion was furious after the race, claiming there was no warning about the conditions caused by oil left on the surface by Bobby Labonte's expiring Toyota.

Default What a difference...

...a week makes!! Jeff had absolutely NO problems with the Nascar officials a week earlier when they called the race at Pocono with him leading, because of water on the track. Jeff Gordon is the biggest whiner in Nascar....hands down, unless his car is perfect and he is lapping the field with ease, he isn't happy.

TOJ,

I just love it when you sugar coat it!

BTW - I am in full agreement with you.

IMO Evernham was to Gordo what Knaus is to Johnson.

Now, let's race!

Michigan and 200 plus mph into turn #1! Who's going to 'flatfoot' in qualifying?

I don't think the 24 car was theni only car whining after the race. The 99,88,16 the 5 and several others complained.

NASCAR officials couldn't call it because they couldn't see it. It was diff fluid from the 47 and it doesn't show like motor oil. Jeffy has forever been a whiner, as previously mentioned.

BTW-if you like road courses then this weeks race at Montreal for Nationwide series would interest you.
It's go time for Danica Patrick having only 1 top ten in 21 Nationwide races.

...but I'll wager its a "Blue Oval" entry on the pole. The Fords always run great there. And Nationwide road course race at Montreal is just a bonus.

I like the road course races in Nascar, evenmoreso since they added the double file restarts a couple years ago....it gets real interesting, real quick. I would be happy with about 4 road course races each in the Cup and Nationwide series, with one in the Chase, and I would vote for Watkins Glen in the Chase. Would love to see Cup racing at Road America.

the biggest gripe about R.A,. is no fancy infrastructure there . fair amount of travel to get to and fro . etc . thats why bernies show will never be there . since the bulldozing of riverside , R.A. is americas penaltimate facility for road racing (imho) .
