Hi all,
saturday the 25th we will run race #6 on Horst´s NINCO 4 lane oval.
Afterwards the cars will be sent back across the pond.
I wrote a short report (in German) for the homepage of our friends at the RCA. You may see the report and some articles about our NASCAR series (CBNC) with Scaley COTs at www.rennbahnclub-abensberg.de . Enjoy it.
There were some questions to the race #5. Here are my comments:
We were 9 drivers and each one could select 3 from the pile of cars for the race. As all drivers were competing in our championship, which is quite interesting I think that there were no big differences in driving skills.
#14 car was not so good as in the races before because there was a little bump in the track and #14 jumped there and so had bad brakes for turn 3. I think in the next races it will be better again. "Smoke" has not to go back to dirt tracks!
As mentioned the other day all cars are much faster and better than in 2011 and differences are much smaller. Most problems had the 2 DaVols cars #53 and #60 where the motors have a lot of power but suddenly while racing they became slower and after some very slow laps they recovered.
Gary
Gary........thanks a ton for taking part in this series and also your "buds" for helpking out so heres to you guys....
As a total "rookie" to not only NASACR Proxy racing but to all Proxy classes it's good to hear that my cars (the Red # 81 and the Blue/White # 90) are somewhat up to the speed of last years cars......nice.
I'm sure what is learned this year will go along way towards next years cars. I think I'm going to shift from the Chevys to the older Fords.... the Ford Taurus's and once again with custom paint/decals....we'll see.

Hey Gary, maybe those motors need a "squirt" of electric motor cleaner
How is your motor from last years # 5 car. I remember it had died and then I cleaned it up and it seemed to be OK and finished out the proxy. Just curious if it is still running ??

Dick next we will be only running the COT cars. No areo models.
I still haven't learned how to make the quote thing work LOL
It was in the discussions about rules for 2012 and going forward. Let me see if I can find the thread. I have about 12 areo bodies and no COT bodies so it means I would have to build a whole new race team myself. There had also been talk of running the areo bodies and call it Nationwide with a spec motor or lower revving motor. Nor Cal Mike does show us how he added a spoiler to the COT body replacing the wing. I just plan to order a couple of COT white SCX bodies. I think I have a white Scaley COT.
Arrold is right. Besides, the field of cars looks better and more realistic if there is only one type of body. I personally prefer for next year COT with spoiler instead of the wing.

If any other race host are following this, Bruce's two Artin based cars were never very easy cars to drive, even in his capable hands. After his passing, I put them back together as I recalled they may have been before, they were in the parts box. I sent them along to "compete" in the series. Trying to get consistant, fast laps will only cause frustration. The #9 car is better, but still a handfull.

Tim is the rule coordinator.
Nothing firm, but some talk about having 2 car types for 2013. COTs would continue the present rules, but older aero bodied cars would run in a "Nationwide" series, maybe with a spec motor, but I would be good with any motor and the only difference between the 2 series would be body type.
[[self serving note: especially now that my 97 is running so well this year!!]] This would "spread" the competition around a bit with 2 chances for a podium at each race venue, and there was talk about limiting an individual to entering just 2 cars in each division....4 cars total. I am OK with adding a spoiler to the COT entries. Just my 2 centavos.

It works for me Jay. Would think if we go that way (two separate classes) that the Aero cars would be limited to the 18k scaley the 200 carrera and the 42B from SCX, which could be run in any Mfg's Aero car.

It's all good for me. I'll probably only enter one COT car anyway but if I were entering a car with only those motors available on, I'd take the Scaley every time. They're just faster, especially on lowered voltages that are run on most no mag tracks. The E200 is good too but I haven't seen a Aero Carrera car around in so long I forgot if they even made one. Did they?
I think before we go too much further on this discussion, there is a thread already open for this topic. It's best to keep this stuff in the right place in case anybody wants to go back to research what was said and when. Ok, you can go ahead call me Mike The Librarian.

You guys are right lets stay on topic, but one quick note... a review of the '12 rules NO mention of a rule change to COT's.... ONLY a thought of one so......................

In 2013 we will be strictly COT cars and I suspect we'll allow Pro Series. The cost doesn't come to play much anymore after replacing the front wheels and stronger motor, you're at the cost of a Pro car anyway. Personally. I like to see more creativity in building a basic car as oppose to letting SCX do it for you but since I allow everyone involved to help decide the direction, we'll approach this topic next year.
One step at a time

This may help refresh some memories
