Hi Bill

I had a thin sheet of aluminium (it came from shielding from an old computer) which I cut into about a 1mm strip. I then embossed it with a sharp point and glued some plastic that came from packaging to the strip. Once dry I was able to use the aluminium to bend to a shape and then glued it to the body. I think the strip is a bit thick (but maybe not scales out at just over an inch)

cheers
David
