Default reed switch reed relay

Good day everyone can i use a magnetic reed relayin place of a magnetic reed switch

You might get a more helpful answer if you explained what you are using it for.

A magnetic reed relay is essentially a magnetic reed switch with a coil of wire round it.
If you just need a magnetic reed switch I suppose you could take the reed switch out of a reed relay.
Like I said, it would help to know what you want it to do.

I use a reed switch connected to a pc via a parallel port. I wrote software to detect when the switch is closed, i.e., when a car passes over it. As the car passes over the switch, the software flashes a yellow LED, which too is connected to the pc via the parallel port.

This is how i did mine - works a treat

I just run it from an additional 12v DC power supply.

dangerpinky, you knocked it out of the park it works beautiful i am currently building some wind turbines which i will run with reed switches, i aslo implemented this in the cars pit row but went a step further and installedblinking leds in the pit
