Yes the SCUMS event is on! We will be having our next get together on Saturday the 8th starting at 4pm. We will be having all the usual stuff. So feel free to bring your favorite dish and libation or not. Just make sure you come with slot cars, wives and/or girlfriends and a good attitude ready to have fun! We will race whatever we have. So bring your favorite race cars and any IROC cars you are not afraid to sacrifice to this rowdy group. The new track is up and running, if not absolutely complete. More information to follow.
Sure, if you don't mind the earthy surroundings. I have been busy on the track and haven't cleaned it from the last camping trip. But I guess anyone who would need it wouldn't notice, at least until morning.
I have decided the track is ready. I was going to try and get the infield for the corkscrew painted, but it isn't going to happen. We will call it a winter race with snow on the ground. Really things are looking good. I just decided to spend the next couple of days getting stuff ready to party. I would rather be getting the bar ready rather then the scenery. I think we will have no problem getting more then thirty people here for the races. Well maybe only a dozen or so actually for the racing, the rest for the party. Make sure you bring the better half, as the girls have more fun then the guys. looking forward to see all of you. I will have the beer on ice and the tracks on for test and tune at 2pm with the actual party starting about 4pm.
The track is clean, up and running. I tested the computer system today and did the final cleaning. I had a little trouble as I couldn't get the cars to run smoothly. Turned out the copper had tarnished from all the damp towel wipe downs to keep the plaster and sanding dust under control. I polished them up and everything is working great now. By the way don't use steel wool to polish the copper as it leaves little steel slivers. Magnet motors don't like steel slivers. It took me a while to get things cleaned up again. Oh well two gallons of Margaritas in the freezer, half gallon of gold for shooters, a case of Fat Tire, couple of dozen burgers, 16 brats, 32 dogs and all the trimmings, Chips, Dips, plus whatever. I just got to get a few loaner cars cleaned up for the new people and we will be set. Oh yea, I got to do a little house work according to the general before everyone get here. Can't wait!!!
OMG, what a great event that Dan and Sara have thrown for us all. Thank you both. DP your new track is great to run on,
The pictures don't due it justice. Thanks for having us over.
We had a absolutely fabulous time. Sarah and I want to thank everyone who came and helped to provide us with a memory we will talk about for years. We had 33 guests and 22 of which were racing. The food and drink were great and the laughter was out of control. We only managed to run two races and they aren't to clear to me, but I think the Professor won the road race and Jay Mac won the oval competition. I want to mention I was second in the oval race and would have won it if only I would have spilled my beer on the track while Jay Mac was racing instead of when I did. I'll have to plan better next time. Thanks again and we love you all!
Thanks Dan and Sara, Best scums ever. The oval was crazy. We all had a blast. Can't wait till the next one. Oh and the Yard Gnome can make a mean margaria, maybe you should make him the club bartender. On second thought maybe not, nobody would get to drink and we would have to carry him home.
The Gnome did do a good job. He only blew up the blender once which is a hell of a lot better then I do. I think he would make a good bar tender and what the hell he never drives so he should be safe. Thanks for sharing the evening with us.
