Default Wiring switch for pit

I thought of a way to incorporate refueling into my ho layout, but i had a question about wiring it correctly to my parallel port. My plan is to wire a Dpdt switch so when the switch is flipped power is cut to the lane and a signal is sent to the computer indicating that the car is pitting.
My question is: For the signal part, should i wire it so that when the switch is flipped it connects one of the parallel port Input pins to ground (ex: pin 14 to pin 18)? Should i put a resistor in between? Is there something else I am forgetting about?

Default

I think I found the answer. I need to add a 5v power source and a 10kohm resisistor.
