I know the motor became available a while back as an independent part, and from what I understand the pod for the RK was supposed to be available in August. I can not find the parts form on the SCX site and without the forum I have not heard any more chatter about the pod being available.
Does anyone know if the pod is for sale yet and where to order one?
As far as I know this hasn't arrived yet. According to Bryan it was supposed to arrive in August then September and now we’re all waiting impatiently for new items to arrive. However it can’t be long as I’ve heard that SCX has started shipping again.
About two weeks ago I received an updated parts list from Bryan, it still shows '2012' under quantity for this part. It is item number SCX70018, but it does not show a release date or if it is actually available.
I have two broken RK-42 motor pods so I have been contact with Bryan about them, he indicated he has been requesting them, but they are not sending them at this point. Perhaps we just need to wait until after this issue with the courts to see where we are....
Parts get made during production runs. Starting a production run simply to make spare parts is unlikely due to the cost involved. Spare parts are generally made during a regular parts production run. For example, most of the Cuda chassis that are available as spares are green. These were made during the green Cuda production run as spares. The other Cuda chassis that are seen as "parts" chassis are from stripped down "whole" cars.
When the next production run (involving RK-42 pods) happens, new parts should be made available through larger production runs of certain parts (RK-42 pods). It is possible there may be extra parts from the last run, but I feel that is unlikely because they would already be available.
I hope that I didnt confuse anyone.
The short version is the parts have been ordered, but we don't know when they will arrive. We do expect them to arrive, we just do not know when.
